Very nice and it is uplifting to see that spring is arriving! I think your Sigma macro lens would focus closer than these without the tube.

To ensure that we all see the same thing on our various displays calibration to a uniform standard is required.

When a person does the calibrating process, you still have to put in a target figure for the brightness that you want to see. I have my NEC monitor set for a value of 100 for example. The default value for my colorimeter is 140 which was way too bright. Common brightness settings when running the colorimeter are often between 100 and 110 or so. So it is possible that both computers are "calibrated" for color, but to different brightness levels.

Merry Christmas everyone although a bit late. Happy New Year would be more appropriate at this time but I just wanted to share the photo. The image was taken with a Nikon D810 and 24-70 f4 lens and polarizer. It is a 2 shot HDR merged in Lightoom. The fonts were added in PS CC.

Happy New Year and good shooting to you!

I've been reading UHH for quite some time now, but this is my first post, and one of my first attempts at a flower. The wife liked this one, so I cropped it a bit, and gave it to her on a 16x20 canvas for x-mas. What's here is SOOC, shot with a D7500 and 18-140mm, held in my right hand, while holding a wirelessly triggered SB-700 speedlight at roughly 90 degrees in my left. ISO 100, 1/60, f/4.5, 45mm focal length, and TTL flash. I was with the family and relatives and had to shoot quick, so I'm pretty pleased with how this one came out.

Let me know what you think. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

That is a really great start and composition! The light is a bit too bright and harsh. Try shooting it again (or similar) on a totally overcast day with little wind and see if the results are not much more pleasing to you. Even better yet is the calm right after a rain shower if it is not too windy.

I am going to start a thread here and I hope the hoggers chime in with their thoughts.
How many of you out there fine tune your lenses?
I have a Nikon D500 and D4. The D4 you have to fine tune manually. I watched the video by Steve to help with the procedure.

Thoughts??

For starters, do you see a problem with focus in your images? If so, do this simple test: Put the camera on a tripod and shoot one image focusing through the VF with aperture fully open. Then shoot a 2nd image with the camera in LV, focusing carefully either manually or AF, aperture fully open , and using the rear screen. Bring the 2 images up on your computer and carefully compare the 2 for any difference in focus. They should both be focused on your subject the same or nearly so.

Note that the VF shot uses phase detect AF and the LV (live view) image uses contrast detect AF. The contrast detect, LV, images are taking focus right off of the sensor and should always be accurate. If you saw a repeatable problem determine whether the VF image is front or back focusing. At that point you will need to dial in a bit of + (for front focused images) or - (for back focused images) in the camera's AF Fine Tune menu for that lens.
