I don't think it's what you buy, it's what you do with it, if we all asked for advice whether to buy a Ford or a Honda, (these are not camera's) it's more a case of what you feel comfortable with not what somebody else feels comfortable with.
Somebody told me that unless your running 64 bit machine, maximum ram is 4 ?
Is that correct?
Cheers I've heard of swedes and turnips, though I don't like them.
Another tip is to turn off the image stabilser when using a tripod, if your lens has one.
I have done some hand-held, but I'm writing a book and need the images to be spot-on, I think it would be good to include some panoramic views of some bridges over the river Thames.
Again, thanks.
Thanks for all your notes and advice, I do a lot of landscape and bridges over rivers work some include scenes of London.
I will be looking at different types before taking the plunge, I don't think Hand-held will be any good for me.
Christmas is nearly upon us so Santa may be kind.
I'm looking to purchase a Panohead for my 5D mk3 Canon - any advice would be most welcome
I'm English, then British, and I live next door to Europe, we get frowned on if we fill in a form and put English, we have to put British, yet Scots can put Scotish ans Welsh can put Wales.
I believe we need Europe for trade but a lot of baggage comes with it.
Try living this side of the pond

Go to
www.meetup.com and put in photography in your area..see what comes up. If nothing you can start the Meetup...I belong to a few and they are great fun!
I run three meetup groups in the UK and think there better than camera clubs, having been a CC member for about thirty years when our club closed through lack of interest I started a meetup group and currently have about 150 members, it's Internet based but we meet 3 or 4 times a month and arrange trips out.
I also ensure that we all talk as a group on certain evenings, this helps to get people to know each other.
There's almost certainly a group nearby.
