JCam,
I wish I could make the claim of being that Robert Ballard but not quite. Funny though, I have always had an interest in the Titanic long before his discovery. Growing up my mother had a book that was written soon after the sinking so I read and gave a book report in grade school. Maybe one day I will cross paths with him.
The morning started out pretty grey and dismal. I camped out on the upper deck and it was probably in the mid 50's. The boat has set of turbines and we had no problem cruising 30+ knots. I was a bit chilled but once we got into Canadian waters the sun came out and the sky cleared.
I use Light Room for PP. I wish I had the patients to learn Photoshop but so far LR does everything I need it to do.
I had my D800 set up with the 70-200mm f2.8 with a polarized filter and my D3S set up with the 24-70mm f2.8. I even go to a point where I broke out my Samsung Note 4 and took photos because of how wide the lens is. I am quite impressed with it, I just wished I would have paid attention to the camera setting and shot in high resolution. For the Samsung photos, I had the HDR setting on. I'll attach a few from my Note 4 phone.

Thank you for the offer however the set has sold.
I am uploading additional pictures of the grip. I had a very similar grip on my D5000 and I purchased one for my D800 as well. I have never had any issues with the Bower grip, the battery life is phenomenal and the camera automatically switches to the other when battery life runs out.

Why is it that every time someone takes a UFO picture it is blurry? With all the high tech cameras and super lenses not a one is clear.
Isn't that why these are UFO's. If the pictures are clear then the objects could be identified.
Wow, thank you everyone for the compliments. Hal, I have shopped at Dan's, both locations. My daughter has been begging me to introduce her into photography so last Christmas I stopped by Dan's and picked her up a D5100. I also use Allen's in Levittown.
Dsquared, you ruined it for me. Coyotes just aren't as glamorous, still cool none the less because that was a first for me. There is so much to see there, just not enough time. I will more than likely return next year and see more lights, I would like another chance at Bass Harbor. The night shots were very neat for me as I have no way of achieving pictures like that in my area.
AVarley, I am not sure where you are in California, but one of my goals is to drive out and go down the coast on 101. A couple years ago I was on a roll with work and made it to Palm Springs, Huntington Beach, SanDiego, Sacramento, and San Francisco.
Thank you again all, Bob
I met a small group, 6 others, photographers and spent Monday-Friday shooting various lighthouses up and down the coast of Maine. I spent many nights in my car so that I would be able to catch the stars, milky way, sun sets and sun rises (all of which are my first attempts). I was even fortunate enough to catch a thunder storm while shooting one light house. I am attaching a link because it is easier to just go to my Smugmug website.
http://robertballard.smugmug.com/Street-Scenes/Maine-Lighthouses/30635285_RkJQK9Enjoy, I had quite a bit of fun shooting these. I was blessed by sounds of howling wolves during the night shots at West Quoddy and the presence of porpoises and whales in the water just off Seguin Island.
You won't have any problem using the 70-200 sigma. I shot gymnastics and basketball for many years using that lens on a D5000 and D7000. My daughter is now using it on her 5100. I now use the Nikon vr2 because it focuses better and is sharper. I never use vr when shooting sports because the lens focuses faster without and I am shooting fast enough where it doesn't matter.
Thank you, I appreciate the feed back. I have more picture to upload, I just haven't had the time. Hopefully next week.
