Great series - thanks for posting - Very Well Done !!
Very well done! Thanks for sharing them.
Love the "Steamers"-and thanks to all the people who keep them going for us to see. Thanks for sharing---That was the days when Trainmen earned their money the hard way. People don't realize those steam engines could only go short distances before they had to refill with water. Just depends how much switching they had to do in between. We had water towers about every 12 miles on the Northern Pacific, all gone now. Every time the train stopped for water the fireman & engineer would oil as many wicks & oil spouts as possible & the brakeman would inspect livestock and train, while the conductor kept dinner going in the caboose--Lol many times they would stop the train to pick asparagus, or sweet corn out of some farmers field, or shoot a Pheasant. Those old trainmen were quite creative in those days. My father-in-law was a engineer, & could tell you some stories. Today they can't even stop the train without permission, unless in a emergency-GPS tells all. Thanks Cool It-Love the Pics
Super set of photos, love the lighting. And yes, they do use a lot of water - our local preserved line in only 10 miles, but the tank gets topped-up when it gets to the end!
Excellent job capturing a truly "timeless" feel. Did you set up that lighting or was it already there? Nice work!
I so love steam engines. Fantastic series of pictures
