A few of us have posted photos from Alaska. Should be able to find them by searching the forums.

I live in Alaska and nearly all of the photos on my Smugmug page were taken in Alaska.

I stopped by your website. Oh so AWESOME. thank you for sharing

Hi all,

If anyone has been on a cruise to Alaska, live in Alaska, or have visited Alaska and have pictures, would you please post them and send me a message to view them. I am planning to go in the future and would like to see pictures you've taken.
thx

ONE thing to remember! Watch iso. It seems as though everything you think would be the sunny rule is often faster. The lighting is so clear and bright that many of my old photos were over exposed. Wished I'd known that before my trip in '97. Haven't been back since and I am hoping one day I get to again. Go to Denali, go to the off the beaten paths and go north to the "outback" out of Anchorage and Fairbanks to see the REAL Alaska. It is an awesome state

I never imagined shooting in b/w so I accidentally took a course in photography b/w. What an experience. Forcing me into a different medium and really SEEING instead of just glossing an image. Then to actually myself bring it from film to print was fun. Something you'll never experience with a digital and PS. I recommend a course in b/w highly to all aspiring photographers.

AGREE totally, try smaller, personal photo stores? OR better yet scan, put to PS then onto a media and take to print to Staples, or like such.

Yes and I make my point known by asking for their card and emailing a letter explaining their obvious lack of proper upbringing in the courtesy area. Your very right to not show your anger displeasure with the clients. You may explain how the act was unprofessional and that is why they hired you and move on.

I totally agree with all of the above replies. You handled it with extreme patience and politeness. Considering the clients were oblivious to the act. Otherwise had they wanted the shot in an exact location then who knows what could have / should have happen. Love the "getting business card" idea. Will try to remember that.

I totally agree with Elle. I love digimarc and use it within my Photoshop plugins.

To be used for photo & just plain printing.

David

For photos I like Epson as well. I use Epson Stylus Photo 1400 for photo printing. I wouldn't use a photo printer for everyday text and other printing though.

If you do mostly monochrome printing, get yourself a Brother or Samsung $89 laser printer for lowest print per page costs. If you need color for other stuff than photography, there are lots of sub-$120 printers by many manufacturers that can serve that purpose.

Photo ink is just too expensive to use for everyday printing.

I LOVE my Epson 1400. It gives me great quality prints up to the maximum. I've had mine for 4 years or so.

It depends on the topic of the discussion. If someone has asked, "What's wrong with this pic or how to improve on it then post a pic to be picked on and maybe one to allow the original question to "see" the improvement? Otherwise, post where a topic is post your pic here

Excellent information! Thanks everyone. Is there a way to slow down a burn if your computer is fast. I have a Mac.

When you go to burn it allows you to choose a burn speed in disk utility OR best is to use "Toast" and it allows you to choose a greater amount of burn. Are you burning from iPhoto? There is no choice, it just burns for you. The best storage is an external HD. Although I do have cd's and dvd's also which are stored in a closet where it is dry, dark and room temp.

I started out several years ago with Photoshop for Dummies then progressed as I did and use Photoshop CS5 Bible. The best is to use, use, use it.

Aperture is great for catalog photos. As far as really expecting it to be like Photoshop, forget it !!

It's a great "quick" product especially on a Mac to organize, catalog and do small manipulation to your photos. It doesn't give the full response like Photoshop would. What are you trying to achieve from your photos? Catalogging? or just quick and easy "photoshopping"? Are you a digital photographer and use a Mac? iPhoto is great for quick stuff but to do professional work try CS5
