[quote=Racmanaz]Vice P**********l candidate Governor Mike Pence will be traveling with Trump to Baton Rouge.
FOX News reported:

Republican p**********l candidate Donald Trump and running mate Mike Pence will visit flood-damaged areas of Baton Rouge, La. Friday.

Record flooding across Louisiana has k**led at least 13 people. Over 85,000 people have registered for federal disaster assistance, more than 30,000 have been rescued, and an estimated 40,000 homes have been damaged.

Trump addressed the flooding at a rally in Charlotte, N.C. Thursday night, calling Louisiana “a state that is very, very special to me.”

“Though words cannot express the sadness one feels at times like this,” Trump said, “I hope everyone in Louisiana knows that our country is praying for them, and standing with them to help them in these difficult hours.”

What predictable nonsense:

Here's a better version:

"Republican p**********l candidate Donald Trump defied the wishes of Louisiana Governor Edwards today to briefly participate in unloading Play-Doh off of a supply truck while being surrounded by media.
Governor Edwards, currently responding to some of the worst floods in his state since Hurricane Katrina, had previously said of Trump in a statement that “We welcome him to Louisiana but not for a photo-op. Instead we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of the storm.”
Trump went to Louisiana anyway, having previously criticized President Obama for “working on his golf game” while Louisiana citizens suffered.
Campaign manager Kellyanne Conway insisted that the visit was not a photo op, praising Trump for acting “p**********l” and describing his stay there as “a decidedly nonpolitical event, no press allowed, going to help people on the ground who are in need.”
Trump toured some of the damage during his visit, and briefly assisted in unloading a truck while surrounded by cameras, passing twelve boxes of Play-Doh to vice p**********l candidate Mike Pence before leaving for the nearest reporter.

Governor Edwards has also publicly requested that President Obama stay away as well, saying “It is a major ordeal. I’d ask him to wait if he would for another couple weeks.”
Unlike Trump, Obama has agreed to stay away until first responders get a better handle on the situation.
“The president is mindful of the impact that his travel has on first responders and wants to ensure that his presence does not interfere with ongoing recovery efforts,” Obama spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement. “He is also eager to get a first-hand look at the impact of the devastating floods, hear from more officials about the response, including how the federal government can assist and tell the people of Louisiana that the American people will be with them as they rebuild their community and come back stronger than ever.”

I for one never have used the video feature of my Canon 5d 11. I just wonder how many of us use the video and how many don't? If you do use the video feature is this the reason you would upgrade to a new model?

In talking with a Canon service rep recently, the video feature costs nothing extra. The R&D has been done long ago.
Virtually all cameras, not to mention smart phones, have a video feature.
There is a "Video for DSLR & Point and Shoot Cameras" section in the UHH forum with currently 519 subscribers.
Since the file sizes are huge in comparison to still photographs, they will not be posted here. You must post to either YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo and provide a link.
My local camera club has a video section.
There are several books on how to make great video.
Go look at some examples. You may be inspired.

And why should this surprise you? The current liberal/progressive administration is led by a muslim, gay, d*****t that glories in any form of d*****t sexual behavior as do those who support him. He has replaced any decent honest moral people in this administration with more of his kind. It is amazing that he insists that we are better off now than 8 years ago when he took office.

The President does not name ships of the US Navy. Although a President could suggest and probably influence the naming of such a vessel, there is no evidence that he did so in instance. The claim that POTUS is "muslim, gay, d*****t" illustrates that your "mind" has been infiltrated by idiocy. You obviously are not "better off" - suffering a marked degree of loss of factual recognition. I probably won't apologize for stooping to your low level.

"Naming Ships
procedures and practices involved in Navy ship naming are the products of evolution and tradition than of legislation. The names for new ships are personally decided by the Secretary of the Navy. Ship name recommendations are conditioned by such factors as the name categories for ship types now being built, as approved by the Secretary of the Navy; the distribution of geographic names of ships of the Fleet; names borne by previous ships which distinguished themselves in service; names recommended by individuals and groups; and names of naval leaders, national figures, and deceased members of the Navy and Marine Corps who have been honored for heroism in war or for extraordinary achievement in peace.
Starting at the beginning of the 20th Century, the Navy's ships were named in accordance with a system, tailored to ship types. Names of states, for example, were borne by battleships. Cruisers were named for cities while destroyers came to be named for American naval leaders and heroes, as today's destroyers are still named. Starting in 1931 submarines were named for "fish and denizens of the deep." As World War II ship construction programs included new types of ships requiring new name sources; and other classes required a modification of existing name sources to meet a perceived shortage of "appropriate" names. Mass-produced antisubmarine patrol and escort ships were named in honor of members of the naval service k**led in action in World War II. Some were named for destroyers lost in the early stages of that war. Ships lost in wartime were normally honored by having their names reassigned to new construction. During World War II the names of individuals were once again assigned to aircraft carriers."

Other "controversial" US Navy ship names: Reagan, Carter, Stennis - many more.

Look it up. Numerous sources.

I have a field guide that says not to use a reader. Instead use the connecting cable that came with the camera. The reason being that sliding the card out can eventually damage the contacts.

Here, here. Absolutely the best practice. Never remove the card.

I'm selling my full frame Canon 6D. $1100. It has 22,593 shutter activations, original box, docs, charger, battery, etc. Also comes with Meike battery grip, extra battery. Camera is in excellent condition. No dings, scuffs, scratches on body or glass. It's been a great camera and I've posted many shots here on Ugly Hedgehog with it . I've upgraded to a 5DSR and don't need the extra gear :)

Price includes shipping and insurance to lower 48 states. I do have a Paypal account.

I am friendly-curious as to how you obtained such seemingly accurate shutter activations.

Having used a vented hood on my dslr for years, I find they are pretty good with "closer" popup flash photography. A normal dslr hood would get in the way of the flash and not so much with the vented hood.

Does anyone know of any other other advantages they might have?

From what I picked up on, they were originally build for range finder cameras.

For rangefinder cameras? Correct. Here's commentary from DP Review on the subject:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/308AFAIK

you already have your definitive answer: the vents are there to prevent large hoods from blocking the view of the two finders on a rangefinder camera.
You won't find any SLR lenses with vented hoods, save for a very few that have a slot that allows you to rotate a polarizer filter.

Go to Flickr and enter the terms in your topic heading. You will find examples of shots taken with this, or comparable, lenses. I would search YouTube for similar results.

I bought a used Gorilla Pod Focus a few days ago from B+H and should get it Monday, but I forgot to ask them before they closed for Passover whether or not I need a head for it or if I can attach my camera directly to the pod. Can someone help?

Mine came with a head, but I'm sure you can use it without a ball head. Just an added and useful feature to have.

In PS I've found the camera shake filter to be an excellent feature for hand held shots. I also use one of the sharpening filters and the question is, when using both, which should be used first?

I have read on several occasions that the "sharpen" feature, or its equivalent, should be the last tool you use in post processing.

I've been really intrigued with the New Sigma 20 mm F/1.4 art. I'm shooting some clubs, concerts and festivals. Sometimes in the clubs the light is so low I'm shooting primes wide open. Also I'm shooting two cameras one ff and the other apsc. My widest lens is a 8-16 mm sigma and I love how wide I can go. I do a lot of 8 mm shots. But its largest aperture is 4.5 and that's only at 8 mm. I'm getting more grain than I like. My cameras are the d7000 Nikon and the d810. I'm looking at the Sigma 20 mm art or either 2 zooms. Really digging the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 be or the Nikon 14-24. I like the width of the Nikon and the be of the Tamron and the DOF and low light ability of the Sigma 20 art. Has anyone shot the Sigma ? How good is its focus accuracy. I have two other art series from sigma and love them but the focus accuracy can be hit and miss. When they hit its wow but when it's the money shot and its wow in the view finder and you get home to the computer and you have missed the eye and have a focused guitar strap your bummed. So please give me some guidance. Nikon D810 low light wide angle .
I've been really intrigued with the New Sigma 20 m... (show quote)

Here's a review of the Sigma 20 1.4 lens with a copy of his comments or focusing capability of the lens. It appears to have undergone exhaustive testing.

"AF accuracy performance testing is always a high priority for me. Exhausting AF scenarios is not realistic, but I'm not especially excited about the AF accuracy consistency this lens has delivered in the variety of scenarios I've subjected it to. Performance has been reasonable, but not completely reliable. The center point has been delivering better AF accuracy than some of the peripheral points I tested. Interesting is that I've found that center focus point accuracy is best when the lens is focused to a slightly farther focus distance than the subject prior to autofocusing."

To me, it seems 20 mm focusing would be somewhat forgiving when being used for your purposes.

Lightroom. Yes, Lightroom is the best processing software, according to the requirements established by Light Stalking. LR came in first place, with Elements in second. PS was fourth. Of course, if they had established different criteria, the results would have been different.

I have, but seldom use those listed. Not listed (does the viewer claim it's comprehensive?).

Excluded are programs I do use: Picasa, Serif Photo Plus , and Smart Photo Editor. Also Google, which is, sadly, phasing out Picasa. But see Google Blog on how they are trying to accommodate Picasa users: http://googlephotos.blogspot.com/

I'm looking for recommendations for a good quality "sandbag" for situations where a tripod/monopod aren't practical ( car window, windowsill of permanent blind, etc). I've looked at photography and hunting types and dont know what'll work best.
2 questions:
1. What type of sandbag works for you?
2. What type of filler gives best stability? (Sand, seed husks, rice, beads, etc)
Thanks to all in advance for your help.
