Would like to know of some good bird photo opportunities in St Johns County, FL I have been several times to the Alligator Farm, but would like to explore other nearby areas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks

If you don't mind driving an hour or so there is the Orlando wetlands in Christmas and Viera wetlands in Viera. Both excellent birding spots.
St. Augustine Alligator farm Has a rookery area that is good

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
Thank you Scoutman. This really covers the areas of interest. Good information.
Just north of St. Augustine on Rte A1A there is a wonderful wildlife preserve: ocean & sand dunes on one side of the highway, scrub and marsh on the other. Waders, waterfowl, shore birds, raptors, songbirds: take your pick.
Also: the coastal islands between Amelia Island and Jacksonville offer great opportunities.
Thanks much...I can see now there are plenty of opportunities in that part of FL
St Augustine Beach Lakeside Veterans Memorial Park just off A1A near St A police station. Gators, turtles, snake-necked anhinga birds (usually with a meal speared on their beaks!), heron, egrets, etc. Get there before sunrise and snap away.
