A few years ago with my D500 on continuous high and preview recording raw on a 64 card and jpg on a 32 card battery would last 1200-1500 shots then change cards and battery. (always spare cards and batteries in my pocket). Only took 18 months to rack up 180,000 clicks but sold enough photos to buy another D500

When I open a folder to import the files there is a button to "check all" the files in the folder. When I come to export these files there is NOT a button to "check all" to export all. They each have to be selected individually in the Library by "control" "left click". This can take some while because for me some folders can contain 100-200 files. It could also lead to RSI.

Get a cooler bag that is oversized. Fill with layers of 1inch thick rigid plastic foam cutting each layer to suit the profile of the lens using an electric carving knife. Layers may then be glued together. And it does not look like an expensive lens but a picnic or a few beers. Sorry there is no picture

NO, the battery is 7 volts and the USB is only 5 volts that is why you cannot find such a charger.

I do horse shows, as am amateur. Have 2xD500s. Main has 70-200mm f2.8. Have been doing indoors recently so @500th and ISO up to 5-8000 but noise can be good or bad at any level. Raw on QLD (64GB) and JPG on SD (32GB) as back-up. Cards fill and battery flat after 1200-1500 shots (then all change), all taken in bursts over the fences. Not unusual to have 1,500 plus in a day. Raw are culled quickly back in the office (dont chimp as I may miss a shot) and then edited in LR (rough crop and tone auto button) at the rate of 3 or 4 per min and posted on my fb page as "proofs" complete with camera file name for ordering. Orders are produced from the original raw files suitable for social media and small prints. (2048 on the long side) giving a file of about 2MB and are then emailed to clients. Sold for 5NZD each. This has paid for the cameras and lenses mentioned, a Sigma 17-70mm macro and a Kenko 1.4 handy to extend the 70-200mm in an emergency without too much loss. Has also paid for a laptop upgrade for editing. 16GM ram separate 8GB video card 256GB SSD. Plus an e-bike to get round the shows easier. Its only a hobby but fun.

Thanks everyone for all the help. Many choices for me to choose from. I appreciate all the help, thanks! My lens came with a soft dust bag that is not very sturdy. I do have (like most everyone) many backpacks which I do use, but wanted something that I could just through on my car seat. Thanks again, and have a great day!

Go to a Charity Sop and purchase a suitably over-sized cooler bag to house your 200-500. Usually has a pocket in the lid for a a freezer pack which will take a piece of rigid foam sheet. With more sheets of rigid foam build up in layers starting with a plain sheet on the bottom then cut progressive layers to conform to the lens profile at each level. On reaching half way profile will remain the same. Final layer will need an extra cutout to accommodate mount. The best tool to cut the foam with is an electric carving knife. Horizontal is probably best. Biggest advantage is that the bag will not have the name Nikon on it. Selection of bag customizes your style of carrying. Very cheap $15 for New Zealand plus $10 for an electric carving knife NZ$25 converts to about US$16

I am a hobby photographer that sells photo files to cover my expenses. I have a D500 and record raw and JPG files on the separate cards. JPGs are quickly edited in Picasa 3 (about 3 a minute) and posted on FB with watermarks saying "proof only" and the image mumber given by the camera. Purchasers quote the image number to order. The raw file via LR is used to edite and produce a photo file of 2048 pixels on the long side suitable for social media and small prints of 6x4, 7x5 and 8x10 at a push. I take photos on request from my FB friends who ride horses in competitions.

I shoot RAW and JPG to slots 1 & 2. The JPGs are quickly sorted using a photo viewer deleting unsuitable pics. They are then roughly edited by cropping and light fill or auto contrast in Picasa 3.(1-3 per min) They are then watermarked with the image number and "PROOF ONLY" using uMark 5 and a file size of about 0.5Mb. These are posted to my fb page for selling. All orders are produced fron the RAW filea via LR and produced as a file about 2Mb suitable for social media and small prints at the local pharmacy. I photo horse shows so shoot in HS bursts with my D500 so can get 1000-1500 frames in 8hrs. This is a hobby so don't pay tax but can cover expenses like replacing a camera. My previous camera (now a backup) is a D7200 with over 200,000 shutter clicks. Couple of decent zooms, a replacement laptop with SSD even a e-bike to get around the arenas. I am 75 with ephysema.

The lens stays on the camera. A nikon 70-200mm and a nikon D500, a clear filter and the lens hood in the inservice position. Camera is never switched off even when removing or replacing memory cards or batteries Camera 2 is a D7200 with a 18-300mm or sigma 17-70mmin the same condition. Putting lens caps in pockets is ridiculous, full of fluff and dust. The best way to ruin cameras and lenses. Fortunately the 70-200 and the D500 are sealed and have been used in the pouring rain.

My D7200 is now my backup but still going strong if I need a second camera with a different lens. Over 200.000 shutter clicks as I shootmainly in bursts of 2-3secs. Action all the way.

64 in slot 1 (NEF) 16 or 32 in slot 2 (JPG) Lasts as long as 1 battery. Shoots well over 1000 photos. When coming towards the end of 1 of them, change all 3. Always start a shoot (horse shows mainly) with empty, reformated (in camera) cards and freshly charged battery. Have been known to shoot up to 2000 pics in a day so do have to change.
