That is not the Dayton art mus., it is a small galery in the Origon distric. Quite quaint, but also small. You may only need a 18-55 kit lens. It is rustic with an unfinished ceiling with pipes etc. running all over the place. Not shot there my self so don't know their limits on photography, but doubt they are very strick. It's a rental place that helps local artists.

I'm getting ready to buy a new computer. All the new ones come with Windows 8.

There is a pretty good deal available now on a 17 inch laptop with an i7 processor, 1TB hard drive, and 8 GB memory, which are all in the range I want. Some of the things I am doing with the relatively large images from my D800 are a bit slow on my current i5 with 5MB.

The concern I have is that I have heard from a couple of sources that Windows 8 is a disaster without a touch screen. The laptop does not have a touchscreen.

I went through the Windows Vista fiasco and don't want to do that againthrough many of the posts. .

Can someone with actual hands-on experience give some advice on whether the touch screen is vital?

Have read through many posts here and no one has offered the key solution. 5 pages of posts. Not read them all, but, for those that don't know.... upgrade windows 8 to 8.1. Free and fixes most all non-touch screen pc's and other devices.

I had forgotten about this website/app until I saw an article or ad for it on one of my daily aviation newsletters I subscribe to. It sounds like it would be a good way to find fly-ins to visit and shoot. I haven't been an active private pilot for quite a few years, but I still love to go to airshows/cop a flight in a small plane (when I can afford it...my favorite so far was a 20-30 minute aerobatic ride in a Pitts). I couldn't make it to Oshkosh this year because of work-related issues and the big show at Scott AFB down the road from me was cancelled :(

SocialFlight? Never heared of it. I do use FlightAware quite oftin though. Is that just a dot com? Can try that my self later, trying to catch up on my mail right now though.

Since this is a thread about climate change, I thought I would post the following URL about how climate change is going to cause the inundation of a lot of places, according to scientific projections.

Oh yes, here we go again, only this time it's that left think tank , the Common Dreams Progressive Community. Here we are on the 30th of July and we just made it all the way up to a high of 72 today and it's down to 56 at the moment. All one has to do is log on to Spaceweather.com and see what the Sun is doing. As I posted earlier, there are only 3 things that have been causing climate change on any planet in our solar system and certain records that have been kept since 1853. Solar activity and volcanic activity and gravity. This has been the coldest spring on record, surpassing 1973 and we're a third into summer and should be in the low to mid 90s by now.

"Capture" means it's been caught, and is either tied up or in a cage. "Shot" means the tieing and cage are no longer necessary.

In photographic terms, there might not be much difference. However, there might be a significant difference, depending on the person using the term. "Shot," as in "nice shot," means someone took a good picture. "Capture," as in "great capture," means the the photographer managed to capture that single, perfect moment in time. A split second before or after, and it would have been just another photograph. The execution shot from the Vietnam era comes to mind.

As you say, "capture that single... a split second and... just another" shot.

When "Global Warming" got shot down due it doesn't exist as such, the powers that be decided to rename it "Climate Change". It is about as big a scam as "Canser causing adgents". There are ONLY 3 things that control the climate on any planet in our solar system: Solar activity (or lack there of) Gravity and volcanic activity. We are now in the 24th solar cycle and it has been dwindling for several decades. We just came through the coldest spring in recorded history. The spring of 1973 had held the record and "the powers that be" wanted to put ashes on the polar caps to ward off "Global Cooling". Even though there are those that think this one may have a second peak, it is still one of the lowest solar activity periods in several decades. As to canser, there is no known element, mineral, compound or man made chemical that can "cause" canser. You can't grow one in a peatre dish in a lab. Canser geans are just a herdetive genetic disorder and if you don't have any one of the 323 known canser geans you can not "catch" that canser. The one thing medical science still doesn't know is how or why a given canser can skip a generation and then single out a sibling in the next one, but not effect the rest of that generation.

Can i get rid of date time stamp after I have photo in the computer . :?:

Simular problem. Due to fact I often forget to reset the date time stamp on my Pentax when I put the batteries back in and it defaults to made date and 12:00, is there any way to edit that and put in the correct info so it reads correct instead of being off a few years?

Again, Arthur Edwards is the Royal Photographer for the Sun who happens to use Nikon. I meant the post to be lighthearted partisan humor.

Which is why I made my quip, and I don,t use a Canon or a Nikon, as (now) all my cameras are Pentax, except for my cell pho.

Both Yahoo and Verizon think the pho may have gotten hacked. There are no anti-anything for that modle and I did have to change my Yahoo password to get my email to work again on anything. Now that works except on my pho and my pho works on gmail etc, just not on Yahoo.

You did ok. Untill you are trying to get them for a $10,000 Nikon with a couple of $15,000 lens, they should do fine. I do agree that you could have (should haved) just gotton the one and a step-up ring for the other.

If a ceiling light controlled by a wall switch is turned off, would the wires be safe to handle? It seems like they would be, but when I change light fixture today, I'm going to turn off the breaker.

Normaly the switch is only wired with one conductor, the hot wire. The ground goes to the socket. It would still be a good idea to open the breaker on any circuit when going to work on it.

With all the phonie stories, just wondering... what if when that gun went off and the barrel powder burned the shirt, the bullet was off an inch. Martin would have still been blowen off the top of Zimmerman so he could get up, check to see Martin wasn't armed and holstered his pistol as the police walked up. They would have takin Martin to get his wound taken care of.... and then would have had to arrest him for premeditated agravated assault and battery, wouldn't they??? Or would we have waited 4 months for any charges to be filed? Oh and George would still be cleared of any wrong doing due to acting in self defence.
