Hello and I thank you ahead of time for your answers.
I am going to Alaska and walked into a camera store that I had never gone to before and they sold me 2 circular polarized filters for my Nikon D5100 for $32 each.
I decided to check into what I bought when I got home and these filters don't seem to exist????
Have you ever heard of Commander Japan optics (made in china).
I am so mad at myself for buying so quickly...just because the salesman was so nice.....
You can get those on Ebay for under $10 each. And why did you buy two? I hope they are different sizes for different lenses.
It's just an off brand (well maybe way off brand) filter, probably not the finest quality but I have seen that brand UV filters for sale for $39. Don't know if anyone has actually bought any for that price.
Try out the ones you bought and see how they work, if the images are good then keep 'em.
Yes, I bought a 52mm and a 58mm. I am just so mad at myself for being so trusting and not reviewing my information first. I actually did not go in the store to buy the filters, I went to look at camera bags and mentioned Alaska.

Do you mean they are nothing more than clear glass and don't do anything? I would then bring them back to the store if they are defective - either for a refund or exchange for working filters of equal value.

If the salesman was really nice he would have sold you the 58mm filter and a 52-58mm step-up ring for a couple of bucks saving you some $$$.

AGal, have you used them? Go out and try some pics. If they do what they're supposed to do, then your fine. maybe you would prefer some B+H at $250 ea., they probably had those also. Marvel at the great fotos you take with them.
You helped the local economy and a local store stay in business. That's a good thing. Start feeling good, not mad. SS
PS, I know guys that can drink that in booze in a night. After they sober up, they have only the hangover to show for it
You still have two filters. Life is short.
It was nice you bought them anyway. All too often people go into a camera store to research what they are going to buy on the Internet cheaper. I always buy something like a filter or a strap so I don't look and feel like a schmuck for wasting their time. I have collected some cool filters that way. Someday I may actually use a few of them.

   As was noted by MT Shooter in another post retail marks up cameras about 6% but accessories up to 42% and higher. He knows of what he speaks as I believe he has opened a retail business. So yes you can get anything cheaper on the net. and if that is the only place we all bought we would put all the old and new retail business out of business. $ 32 is fair for Polarizers as the and Variable ND filters are the most costly. Hopefully you bought one for each of two lenses. If you have a problem you have a place to go back to. if you are not sure how they work you have a place to go back to. if you paid tax you helped to fund the local community. All in all not bad things. Enjoy Alaska
My Daughter is in Vegas and she bought a p 510 nikon and shopkeepeeper told her it,s a iinterchangable lens .removed the camera from the package and tolld her I,m not getting any tax for it 695 dollars.
upon returning to the hotel she called me and i told her it,s damn expensive 395 is fine. she went bsck for the refund next morning and shop refused to refund. only exchange they have Nikon d5200 body only 695 . but asking for 18-55 lens 395 dollars more . body fine .huge profit for lens thouhk. I regret it. Dr.Farzin

Now that's getting taken. Buying a Camera that's 1 year out of date (current model P520) for $ 200 more that the current model sells for Retail at MAP pricing. Hope she reported them to BBB.

Good morning AutoGal
Take them back today, if you can or chalk it up lesson learned there is always a bad apple in a bunch (sales person). This way they sell you cheap stuff hoping you come back to buy better stuff later, our local camera shop owner does it. less expensive equipment sells quicker than the expensive stuff.

I'm a little confused here. If they didn't exist, then how did you buy them?
