Sorry if this question had been asked before. Being in Ag, this is a pretty busy time of the year and I don't get to come to UHH very often. I just knew I would get some great advise. Thanks everyone.

I was out taking pictures of our southern gospel quartet and (you won't believe it could happen in Montana) a wind gust came up and my 7d with the 28-300 lens tipped over before I could stop it. I guess that is another reason I use a filter - sacrificial lens. What is a good medium entry tripod? What can you get for couple of hundred bucks? Also to avoid running back and forth, any recommendations on a remote?

I like EW comments and had asked him for his advise. People - life is to short to get wound up in the little things. GOD, country, family - focus on those. Everything else is gravy. EW's and all comments are only worth the value we put on them. I asked. EW responded. Thank you for the response. I don't fully understand disturbing - using pixelisatiom, but with continued (photo) growth, someday I will. Life is change, progress is optional.

Went down to the beach and got to shoot some pics of the pelicans. Great camera and great lens makes for great pictures, but how can these be made into art? These were shot in JPEG and no PP. Any suggestions welcome!

I like what EW has to say. Quick, concise and to the point. Remember if you don't like what people say, place the value on it what you paid for it.

Updated from original Rebel to the 7D. Love it even though I still am learning how to fully utilize it.

Already have 400G backed up online with Carbonite. Problem of high MP camera and HD video.

Use Carbonite, but due to slow upload speed (my problem - not Carbonites), my back up has been going for 1.5 years. But that does not address keeping thumbnails on my computer and having it tell me where to find the originals.

Thank-you everyone.. MT Shooter that was a good system when working with Windows. Was using IPhoto but am now ready for more PP so upgraded to Apeture. Threads about 8N and 9N tractors reminded me of photos that I have (we still have two of each on the farm), but finding them is nigh impossible. Photos and cd and hard drives scattered from here to kingdom come. Hoping Apeture can save all my thumbnails but not tie up all my memory with the originals. Any Apeture users...... Suggestions welcome. :-)

I understand about backing up and the risks involved, but my question adds file management to the lot. How do I back up everything but still keep an idea on my computer about what I have taken photos of. With over 100,000 shots I begin to forget where "that picture" is. As the good book says about council of many, what are the UHH people using to solve this problem?

You don't have to be very old to see these still in use today. We still use them today on the farm (although some have been converted to digital).
