These are from a trip west a few years ago with my wife and sons. We spent 2 weeks exploring Utah, Arizona and SW Colorado. Great time, looking forward to my next visit.

Our dad always had Oldsmobile Delta 88's as the Cutlasses weren't quite big enough for a family car. I learned to drive (and burn the tires) on a 67 Delta 88, which had an unbelievable amount of power for a "family" car. I believe it had a 455? or thereabouts under the hood. You could burn tires as long as you held your foot down and it could bury the speedometer. Wonder sometimes how I made it through those days!

My wife just took delivery yesterday of these three beautiful male llamas to add to her herd of llamas for her trekking business. Just had to sneak out early and get a few morning shots.

They typically are pack animals , not quite big enough for adult riders, although they can be trained to carry children. They can handle 25-30% of their body weight, but as our largest weighs in at about 380-400 lbs. and I'm about 220, I'd need a serious diet to try and ride one.

That's an interesting business model. You get people to pay you to be able to take your animals out for exercise. Genius...

But hey, that's some beautiful scenery they get to see. Nice pictures.

Not only do we get paid to let them exercise our animals, we get paid to exercise ourselves too! Also, back at the farm, Dawn has a farm store featuring fiber-art, alpaca/llama socks, mittens and hats, and a gallery of our sons' artwork and my photography. One of the most popular purchases - photo portraits of the individual llama they walked with.

that's just insane...I so want to come and walk a llama! They won't spit on me will they?

I can pretty much promise you won't get spit on. Llamas do spit as a form of defense or when fighting amongst themselves over food, etc. but ours have a great record when it comes to spitting at people. I've been caught in the crossfire between two arguing llamas, and been spit at when giving shots or the like but happy llamas don't spit and they love getting out in the woods walking. If you really want to walk with a llama, a closer option would be Colorado. There are a number of llama trekkers in that state, including Bill Redwood in Silverton. Check online.

If you haven't guessed by my avatar, my wife and I own llamas. Recently, she started a llama trekking business here in central upstate NY. My job description now includes the "Official" photographer of the llamas, visiting trekkers, and scenery along the trail. The pay sucks, but the exercise is sorely needed. Here's a few samples. If anyone is interested in a unique photo opp and is ever in the area, stop in. Her website is www.woodmanseellamas.com

Very good bish. The first two are the Wind River Range in Wyoming. The 1st is Square Top with Green River lakes in the foreground. The second is somewhere between there and Big Sandy. 3rd and 4th is in the Chicago Basin area of Colorado, taken while climbing one of the 14ers in the area. The last one is a grizzly bear in Yellowstone while climbing Mt Washburn. I haven't kept up with how much of the trail we have done, but for one week every year, for about 6 years now, we have been doing a 60 to 70 mile section, usually in Colorado. Is that a llama with you in the picture.

Yes, that's "T" (Telstar) one of our pack llamas. We offer guided treks here in upstate NY. I have many cousins in Colorado and some in Cheyenne, and try and visit as often as we can. Even do a little llama treking out there when able. I love the San Jaun's, Silverton, Ouray, etc. area.

I may venture into "gift shop" sales and was wondering where to get the mats 'n envelopes/plastic display bags I've seen used by phtotgraphers and print artists. Thanks for giving me some direction.

Try www.redimat.com
I've had good luck with them, lots of choices, decent quantity pricing.

Love the last one! Any tips about how you achieved the white out effect in post processing?

I actually didn't have to do a whole lot, the weather helped. I use elements 7. I used the clone tool to remove a couple very small bushes on the horizon, and used just a very low setting with the art/watercolor filter, which is probably not noticeable until the photo is enlarged. Here's another couple.

Elements 7 has a sepia filter so I'm sure version 9 does too. In 7, go to Full Edit, Effects, click All, scroll to the bottom of choices, click tint sepia. I'm guessing Version 9 is similar.
