I may venture into "gift shop" sales and was wondering where to get the mats 'n envelopes/plastic display bags I've seen used by phtotgraphers and print artists. Thanks for giving me some direction.

Mats can be bought at framing or art & craft store, or you can cut them yourself - I get full sheets of mat board (40x32) from a local art supply store and cut my own. I don't know about the bags.

Try www.redimat.com
I've had good luck with them, lots of choices, decent quantity pricing.

I've used Redimat as well Some of their stuff is a bit "pricey" (e.g. pre-cut mats, frames) and they're not the fastest shipper around; but, as "bish" says, they do have different styles and a variety of sizes of plastic bags and the cost is reasonable when you buy in bulk.

clearbags.com most shops and galleries prefer the
"flap seal" type of bag.

I get all my mats from matshop.com
They have a virtual mat page and have a larger color selection than redimat. I get my bags from clearbags.com, I also get my backing from clear bags because it is thinner and more professional looking than from the mat sites.

Google art stores on line. There is several ASW WareHouse, Dic Blick, Jerry's Artarma and several others. They handle about any thing else related to art.
