I have a good one! It wasn’t actually a camera mistake but a hot mistake. It happened when I was a child. Years ago in the film age of 620, 120 film.
One day when I was walking my neighborhoodI ran into a problem! I happened to have a size (I think) D battery a couple of keys and a flashbulb. It was one of the big ones(I think).Well everything was in my pants pocket, I was walking and I felt a sharp pain in my pocket! I was only a block away from home so ran home and found that the bulb had flashed in my pocket and burnt my skin. I was surprised that It wasn’t too burned! I was glad that it was on the outer part of my leg and didn’t burn any sensitive parts. Anyway it was stupid and I learned something about batteries. Make sure that if and when you store them or dispose of them they are placed with + and - poles together so each battery has the - terminals on one end like - next battery - and other end +,+ and the other end is the -,- and secured so they cannot short out and insulate then. Enough of this!

Alaska! It is a fantastic place to visit, Cruise or whatever! My Wife and I have been there several times on Princess Cruises. It is really nice up there. There are many many places ports to see and tours! Be sure to take the Sled dog tour. It is great! Go to the Red Dog Saloon. It has a lot of history,( as far as the USA goes)! Also take your Dslr kit. Everything! You will need it for good photographs. You will need a long zoom to get wildlife photos (if you are into them) you will also need an appropriate lens for landscapes. I have used everything from a dslr to a long zoom point and shoot. I don’t like to use a phone because it doesn’t give me any control over anything.
You will love it! The landscape is gorgeous and VAST! There are also many national parks and places to see! Don’t forget to go to the local places. There are souvenir shops to beat the band. A lot to see. The ships usually dock at whittier. To get to anchorage you can take a tour, drive there or not go. It is a long drive from Whittier to Anchorage. Whittier is a small town with one building that is about 8-10 (i think so, I don’t remember) stories and some small buildings around it. I think they are stores of some sort. It is really isolated. There are some nice ports to visit. Juneau, ketchikan are some that are also cruise ship stops. I don’t know what line you are going on but they have lectures the night before they get to the port. Make sure you get to the presentations as they are very informative. GOOD LUCK! Have Fun and have a good time and don’t get sea sick! And try to get to listen to one of th locals, Steve Hites. He is a local singer the comes aboard the incoming ships gives a little concert and of course sells his music at a good price to take home. His music is a local genre of music but good!

I am retired and am living in a retirement home. I had to get rid of my Sony DSC RX10 m3. I had all of the bells and whistles. I now have a Nikon b600 point and shoot (phd. press here dummy. Just a joke!) I was wondering. Is it still worth it to try to take good photos? I feel like I have been taken from a great camera to a toy. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do? Also is there a way that i can make the camera screen easier to see because the sun makes it hard to see plus I have essential tremors that make the screen hard to see. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You. rey much.

You should be able to back up the music from the ipad to the mac with itunes then transfer it to the ipod. I’m in the same situation with my ipad. I wiped out the music on my ipad. I have an iphone with the music but no computer to use for the process. I’m stuck! i’m going to look it up myself to see what I can do also.

Hi Hedgehoggers!
I have a question. Because of circumstances beyond my control I’ve had to give up my Sony RX10 m3. I had to replace it with a Nikon Coolpix B600. Is it still worth it to try to get good photos? The Nikon is totally automatic, or “PHD MODE”. Press here dummy ! Only a joke but an old one. I’m going to miss having any control with it and the 1” sensor is real small. Anyway I won’t get many chances to use it anyway. I am living in a place where I cannot get out on my own and my Wife isn’t doing too well. She can barely drive. I need to get ideas for easy photo ops.
If you have any ideas please let me know! Thanks!

My first camera was a kodak brownie hawkeye that I got when I was about 10-12 years old. It didn’t have a flash connection. At the time that was an option. You had to pay extra for it. My next camera was a Brownie Holiday tha did have a flash connection. The flash could use the small bulb or the next size up. then I went through many rangefinder cameras from Petri 7s, Yashica minimatic C then to slrs minolta srt101 then dslrs, Minolta x700 then i went digital from kodak 2.1 mega pixels to 5 megapixels then a Nikon d60 Dslr 10 mega pixels with 2 kit lenses. I got tired of the weight and went to a Sony bridge camera RX10 m3. Love it.
oh by the way I have a little story. When I was a kid I was walking in the neighborhood and had a battery keys and a flashbulb in my pocket. All of a sudden I felt a sharp hot pain in my pocket! It turned out the flashbulb had gone off in my pocket! It burned my leg! I came out of it ok but I learned to keep batteries insulated from each other. Now I make sure that if I throw out batteries they are insulated because they can cause fires in trash cans. They are to be recycled in a special bin by themselves anyway! I hope you liked my story!

It sounds like a computer that was before pc’s. what brand is it. I might have worked on one like it. I worked on industrial computers and pc’s from the 80’s to the early 2000’s for the usps. I started out with pdp 8 up to pdp 11’s and other processors.I worked on the first ethernet that would take 3.5 hours to download 100 megs of data. It was called thick net . It’s speed was 10 Mb/sec. Now you can get anywhere from 100 to 1 gb speed. Things have really changed!

A little bit of info for the huge 20mb hard drive! That hard drive was probably a 5 inch or so size. The first hard drive I encountered was 5Mb. It was a DEC hard drive where the platter was the size of an lp 33RPM record. Then we expanded to a10Mb drive. I’m not too sure if I should include this but it was hooked up to a dec 11-83 computer that was used for one of the first multiple line optical mail processors in the US Postal service in the 1990’s. I retired in 2007 and I’m sure that things have come a long way since then!

I also have been trying to get back into photography. My family wants me to use my Iphone. It is a good camera but I prefer to have some control over my photography and use my dedicated camera. i have a Sony Cybershot dsc rx10 m3. It’s a little old but it does the job. It has more of what I need for my hobby. So think and make your choice. 1. automation limited function or 2. ability for creativity and control. You may make mistakes but hopefully you will learn from them and do better from then on! Good Luck! I have been photographing for over 60 years starting out with a Kodak brownie , Minolta SRT 101 up to digital and been through a lot! Good Luck!

My favorite foul up is! While traveling in Europe back in the 1990’s I would take pictures and when the roll was done I would rewind it and not rewind it all the way into the cartridge. So I ended up with a couple of rolls of film that were double exposed! Imagine having photos of scenes that you probably never see again that were 2 photos superimposed on each other! All because not having the roll marked as used! Oh well! It was fun anyway! We did get to see some of it again!
The reason we were there was it was my older Son’s 21st. Birthday and he’d always wanted to see Germany so we took a driving tour all over Europe. It was fun!

You will love it! Is that the one that goes to Gatun lake? If it is you will love it! That is the one that my Wife and I went on! Whether it is the whole canal or not It is fantastic! I have the older version of the Sony. It is fantastic! The model 4 is probably a lot better! It is a great camera for what you are doing. You don’t need to mess with lenses and just take the pictures you want! Have fun on the cruise! By the way is it Princess you are going on? If it is they are fantastic! That is the only cruise line we’ve been on(over about 25-30 cruises) All over the world. Name a place! We’ve been all over! Anyway, Have fun!
