Jerry, you always give good advice with plenty of examples/ links to the people asking for help. Speaking for myself, I'd like to say thanks for your excellent help and opinions!
I have a question...I have a Sony a7riii, I have a full frame 24-70 2.8 Zeiss a mount lens that I want to use. I bought an a mount to E mount adapter that allows the lens to register as 42 megapixel on the camera but at the 24 to 45 range there is some SERIOUS vignetting going on. It looks like I am in a tunnel. So it effectively makes this lens a 50 -70 lens instead of a 24-70mm. Is there something that I can do to correct this (calibration etc...)? By the way, I LOVE the coyote pouncing pics...
I bought a Meike verticle grip for my a6500...it comes with a cool remote (wireless) that works from anywhere! Or you can always set the timer...
Great Sigma 24-70 2.8 lens with Sony mount for sale...paid 1000 two years ago. But shortly thereafter i bought a 24-70 Nikkor for my D700. Has always had a UV filter so the glass is perfect. I am asking 650 for it. Please e- mail me and i will respond promptly. Thank you in advance!
Are there any Sony shooters from Texas? Around the San Marcos/Austin area? I will be shooting the Heart Walk at Texas State Bobcat track on Saturday the 24th...anyone want to help? I have three cameras...
Sony a55 and Sony a77...plus my always dependable Nikon d700. HDR on my a77 is awesome! Haven't had a chance to shoot anything other than landscapes with it , but i will this weekend! It is absolutely the best!
I found out about the a99 before I bought the a77...I weighed the options and decided that 24 megapixel was plenty, and full frame 36 megapixel would certainly be overkill for my use...not to mention the amount if info going into my computers! I felt it was way too much, after all, I don't print billboards. I have a full frame Nikon d700, 12 megapixel, and I dare say it outshot the Sony this weekend...(although the 24-70 2.8 Nikon lens gave it a big advantage). All in all, I love my Sony and the new Sony a99 will have to wait a few tears...unless I get super busy and start making crazy money! I have some HDR shots taken with both cameras that I will post when I get home tonight...please check then and tell me which you like best (if any).
I am happy with my new Sony but I haven't had a chance to try it under low light conditions (if you've read all the reviews, they mention trouble in low light...without flash) ...I have a wedding to do at the end of the month and I will certainly put it to the test then, but if it doesn't perform the way I need it to, I know my Nikon will work superbly!
I have been using a Sony a77...for a couple of weeks now an I seriously love this camera! I bought this camera despite all the negative criticisms from Canon and Nikon users (and some Sony users as well). I have nothing but good things to say about this beauty with it's high performance "kit" lens! If i need to shoot in low light i'll just break out my Nikon d700 with the 24-70 2.8...problem solved...i basically bought the Sony for shooting fast outside...it certainly handles that well...anyway, are there any photographers around the San Marcos , Texas area with one of these? It would be cool to have a group of fellow photography enthusiasts getting together to compare notes and to engage in some positive critique. If you'd care to please visit my site...bobchag@smugmug.com I enjoy reading all the comments on this site...there are some knowledgeable people hanging out here!
For some reason, I like Sony, but my Nikon is the best...i have an old 80-200 2.8 Nikon lens but it has no ring for a tripod and that sucker is super heavy! I also have a Sony a55, and a Sony a700 besides the Nikon d700...once I get the Sony a77 I will hire a second shooter and possibly a third if it is economically feesable. Thank you nikonshooter for your advice.
It is difficult with one person. I am getting the Sony a77 in a couple of weeks and the 16-50 lens that comes with it is supposed to be very good, that, along with a Sigma 24-70 2.8 for Sony, should cover my shots up close...I believe i will get the 70-200 Nikon VR. I may have to wait a little more to get the VR II version of that lens since i hear it works best with a full frame camera. There are lots of opinions out there and it is hard to decide on a lens, but I fguess I can't go wrong with the new version 70-200. What a bummer, because I can get my hands on a 70-200 VR lens (supposedly 1000 shots on it)for 1,500!!! Anyone care to enlighten me?
What would be considered the best wedding photography lens for the Nikon D700?
I realize that the raw file needs to be converted to a jpeg or tiff but by converting to jpeg I lose lots of information and converting to tiff the local printer says that they won't/can't print in that format. While shooting in raw i try to get the exposure right from the start, so not much "fixing" is required...my 16 megapixel camera has plenty of detail so would i be better off shooting JPEG FINE?
