Hi Thank you (both for your comments) I sold the camera (cross country) to a young fellow. when he asked for advise I told him (see above comments that you did) - RE: Card. He had a very old card and he is buying a new one from Amazon.

What I was wondering: 'are there any setting on the the back (buttons) or set up menu --- that would disable viewing pics on the screen.

Dave

p.s. I shot with it the day I shipped it - all ok

Hi Folks

I recently sold my P7100 to a fellow and he says: 'when I take the picture (and hit the > button) it says 'no image')

It sounds like a set problem

And suggestions on a fix?

THX

I love my superzoom 1" sensor cameras vs my DSLR, many do based on the weight of DSLR and Mirror cameras. Add to that, the cost of glass and it pushes toward the Superzooms.

We must remember that image quality while desirable is lower on the totem compared to composition and storytelling.

You will know the end of the big cameras has come when they are in the checkout isle of Walmart ... As Seen on TV

Hi, What SuperZoom do you like? Dave

False alarm: problem solved...upon close inspection of the SD card bay (using my iPhone as a microscope) found a small chip of plastic (from a prior card) interfering with the spring loaded keeper --- deftly remove by my wife with a pair of surgical tweezers...

Hi,

I just bought a P7100 on eBay - described as a 9+ condition.

But it has one odd 'behavior' When trying to insert the memory card into its slot, it does not seat or 'snap in to place' --- just pops back up. I closed the battery door and 'it seems to push it down into place'

Never had this happen: is this typical of P7100? Or, should it snap in to place like a typical camera?

Comments, suggestions (tried 2 other cards from mu other Nikon and neither snap into place)?

Thanks I did look at the P7700 specs mainly the sensor (CCD > CMOS) --- to capture video.

In my experience for shooting stills CCD are better (from my NASA friend - space camera expert), I hardly ever shoot video

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome - I appreciate it.

I know a number of people in town who are birders - a great pastime!

The last time I was out birding was in 2009 in the Sierras with my friend Ken Briggs - he had an arsenal of Canon lenses (was shooting 5d Mk2) and a true cannon of a lens: a Canon EF 400 --- pretty amazing. GHe got some great shots of eagles.

I was along with my Fuji GSW 690 and shooting Velvia landscapes, what a contrast between cameras.

Hope we can connect sometime - I am out and about on my bicycle 4-6 times a week..

Regards,

Dave
