It looks to me like the model plane is pitching and rolling in the sun, plus camera movement as the camera is panned around (based on the trees and landing gear position) - lighting is changing, and the natural camera movement with a free hand pan. I thought the plane was sharply focused, and the lighting was good.

Where do you live that the roads are so clean?

I shot a lot of years of volleyball, with two daughters playing and one into college - it's not an easy sport, but better than outdoors under lights in weather. Center focus and shoot a lot - delete a lot. People are moving - and jumping or diving in the best shots. So, take a ton of pictures and delete most. This picture was one of ~250 I shot for that match, and I saved 27 photos.

The attached picture was a Sony DSLR-A580, on a monopod - 1/320 @ F2.8 ISO 1600 - it was taken at a convention center, so the lighting was not as good as a bright high school gym. The Sony has in-camera stabilization, which I have noticed does help, but not your issue, as part of the picture is in focus. Often when my daughter was playing, I would jump to manual focus, focus on the net where she hit from and work with that point. Often, I would use the net pole as the focal point to give me the depth.

Also, when possible, as others suggested, shoot so the background is not so busy. Not possible here in a convention center, but at a high school, try the end of the court, provided it doesn't interfere with players' movements. A less busy background will reduce the autofocus effort to pick the target, also center point focus helps too. Also, the manual focus trick if you know where the shot might come from. You just have to keep the player of interest in the middle. And for the most part (not saying everyone is like this), the ladies like photos head-on while playing, but if you are doing video, either up in the stands (if stable enough) or from behind.

Wow, what a great trip. France has both a lot of indoors and outdoors to be had. Switzerland, maybe more outdoor. Just from my travels, I tend toward cityscapes and nature pictures. I carry a newer APSC A68 with a Sony 2.8/16-50 which replaced my old Konica-Minolta F2.8/28-75, although sometimes I still use it. But bring only one of those lenses.

I would keep the mega-pixels up, so long as you are not on a bus tour, you can usually re-position for closer shots. I have taken to a tripod for those early AM or sunset shots, but sometimes you can crank up the ISO and brace yourself and you can get around needing a tripod. Like the Eiffel Tower from a dinner cruise boat, great food, and wine, unlike a dinner cruise here in the States…

Like me.."all sliders to the right" is my motto.

Love "all sliders to the right", I have to admit I do that selectively to see the impact on a picture, then dial it back...

I use both AI and Neo, sometuff Neo just does not do. If Neo follows the AI path, and Russia does invade, expect improvements over time and more good stuff.

So I do use the Sony download software which has a reasonable/OK viewer - I have not been shooting RAW all that long and have been amazed at the ability to pull amazing great images out of darker photos. While I only work with images in focus and try to pitch blurry images fast, I am not quite up to the 1 to 3-seconds for a decision on a lot of photos. That said when you hold the shutter down on continuous and the subject has any moment, I do pitch a lot of photos on either side of in-focus...

Excellent details and instructions - when I get some time I will give these suggestions a try. Love learning new and productive tricks to get better picutes. Spray and Pray on taking pictures has generally been how I get images I like, but the 2-5 and re-check will cut down my post processing efforts a lot.
