My EOS R came with the 24-240 lens. Whenever I try to use the multiple exposure feature I get "Not available with the attached lens". when I grab my adapter and use any of my lenses from the 6D on the R, it all works fine. Do I have to buy a non-R lens to get the 24-240 focal length?

I am not quite sure what feature is not working. I have the Canon RF 24-240 and use it extensively on both my Canon R and R5 with no problems.

Happy New Year. I hope we all have an interesting 2024
I need a copy of Word and Powerpoint for Mac. On the web, I found a number of places that sell earlier versions of Microsoft Office, for example, for a very low price. "Shop Win & Office" sells the Office Home and Business 2021 for $49.99. Has anyone purchased and used something like this? Are they legit?

TechSpot. Office 2021 Lifetime license no subscription. I got it, I use it, works fine. Be careful when you order to select Mac or Windows as appropriate.

I have a friend who is petite. She is ready to buy a new camera and associated lenses. She currently owns 12 -15 year old Canon gear which she plans to replace. As a recent volunteer park ranger with her husband for 3 years she enjoys photographing landscapes, birds and wildlife and plant close ups. With a fall trip to Europe planned she feels now is the time to make a new purchase. Again - her interest is in capable equipment that is compact and lighter than the her current Canon equipment and likely to step into mirrorless. Being a regular UHH reader it seems steering her toward Sony or Fuji would best suit her objectives. It is not her intent to buy an all-in-one camera. I would appreciate and specific recommendations for camera and available lenses that would meet her photography objectives. I am a Nikon user and currently size and weight are not of concern to me. I want to give my friend the best advice I can so she makes the best choice for her. Thanks in advance for you guidance!

Canon R7 with RFs lenses would be attractive. IBIS good focus APSC with 30mp. If the M series would suffice M50MkII somewhat limited M series lens selection but enough for almost any situation - and with and adapter she can use all her EF lenses.

Marie Curie Sklodowska - a great woman at a time when it was rare for women to do that level of study and research. I am proud that she is a somewhat distant relative.

I have the EF 85mm f/1.2L. It is a fine lens and works great on my R5 with an adapter. It is also a bit heavy so I did get the RF 85mm f/2 for convenience in walking around - it is also a fine lens.

Canon. You can get the info on their web site. They did a good job on my EF 28 - 300L after it got dropped.

Good for you! Glad you are still able to do it. Just keep a close eye on your reflexes and your thought processes (close family members should be asked to help with this). I am 79 and have not been a pilot for many years. Not sure if I could still do it or not. There have been too many changes in rules, regulations and avionics. I definitely know I could not fly at night.

Most of my flying any more is local for viewing the scenery, coast etc. That and visits to family. Usually it is just my wife and myself. I was night current recently and probably will do it again if I feel the need. I try to practice at one of the shorter narrower runway airports near by. The time will come for me, as it does for all of us, to hang up the headset but I think I still have a bit of time left. The increase in restricted and controlled areas is a pain and I try to avoid them as much as possible but the airport near my son's house is in a class C so I put up with it there.

Excellent choice IF you have a PPL, access to a plane (own or rent) and the wherewithal for fuel. Not to mention the age factor will catch up with you one of these days.

All true - but at 85 I am still at it! My last trip from central CA to Northern AL I think I beat the airlines - too many lines check ins and layovers. Fuel cost about balences out for 2 people not so much for 1 but really good for 3.

I won't go commercial anywhere in North America. Just fly myself - no TSA, no waiting lines, no schedule issues.

Temperature certainly affects both Lithium ion and lead acid batteries. I don't have good numbers but I have heard that, in the extreme, the capacity could go down to 60%. On my Tesla you can program it to charge and pre-condition the battery for a specified departure time. That would reduce the environmental thermal effects since the energy to warm up the battery would come from the charging circuit. Our temperatures often go to the low 30s at night and occasionally into the teens. I don't see a major capacity reduction. Consumer Report did some testing and indicates the 50 - 60F range is probably the worst.

How many miles do you get get before the battery needs replacing? and at what cost?

Well they have examples that have gone the equivalent of 2 million miles.
More realistically, my sister has an older model S (2015) whose battery needed replacement after over 150,000 mi. It is a function of not just charging but how you charge and how much fast charging you do. The good news was Tesla replaced her battery at no charge under their standard guarantee. I think Tesla guarantees no more than 15% reduction in capacity in 250,000 mi or 10 years - I would have to check the actual paperwork to get the exact numbers.

Tesla has lowered the prices of its two top models to $90,000 for the "S" and $100,000 for the "X." Get one now and start saving money on gas!

I have been driving an electric vehicle since the begining of 2019. Like any other vehicle you have to be aware of fuel/energy requirements. Liquid fueled autos use more energy in very cold and hot weather as do electric vehicles.
I charge over 90% of the time at home - we only charge at charging stations on longer trips. We live on California's central coast and can make it to or from Yosemite NP or down to San Diego or San Francisco on one full charge.
Cost wise, using current power costs we save around $70 to $100 /mo based on Power Co Charging. In reality we have Solar so the cost saving is quite a bit more. On the road charging is what the charge at the charging station is and that is typically quite a bit less than what we would have spent on gasoline or diesel. In addition the service cost is much lower with an EV no oil changes etc. Some fluid changes every 2 years or so.
So it is, as in all things, how you use your vehicle that affects the affordability decision. If your driving is mostly around town or commutes up to 60 or 100mi. each way or so - the EV will save you big time. For long trips it will still save you money but you need to be more aware of where you charge - generally not a problem in most area.
I hope this helps.

I'm sure many if not all of you heard about the unusual weather we have been having.
Not to fret. Some of us diehard photogs went out and challenged the elements to get a few rare shots of the snow capped mountains surrounding Los Angeles and the beach.

Great set. I have seen this before but it was a long long time ago - I am in my 80s.

What do the forum members advise about using in-body image stabilization and lens stabilization together? I've found conflicting opinions in my online searches on the topic.

(I use a Canon R5 with RF 24-70 and RF 100-500 lenses.)

With the RF system you can use both. I do all the time. Canon, indeed, recommends using both for increased stability.
