I decided years ago that I am not flying anymore - in a plane, I mean. When the airlines got so expensive, restrictive, and greedy, with passengers fighting in the aisles, I decided that wasn't for me. I used to love flying, and I made many trips to England and destinations in this country.
My son and a friend are flying to England. The round-trip ticket costs $532.50, and the "fees" cost $476.92. There's something wrong with a system like that.
And added to that is $229 for his tall friend for "Extra legroom seat."
I don't want to fly anymore because of the security officers. I used to be a "pre check" and had no problems. Now, I'm just a 78 year old man with $2500 worth of camera gear, traveling on a round trip ticket with my spouse. The typical terrorist profile. They want to pull me out of line, and pat me down. Meanwhile my camera bag has gone down the conveyor belt into the world of invisibility. I think a root canal might be more pleasant than dealing with the dictatorial officials. The older I get it seems the worse it becomes.

WORD! Their priorities are skewed. Not living in reality and creating a wide open hole for real terrorists to navigate.

I’m in my mid 70s, travel with my wife 4 or 5 times a year and always go right thru, shoes on, no pat downs, etc. We use CLEAR…maybe that’s the difference.

Is that the invisibly cloak?
Amen to that Jerry. My wife & I just did a trip to Egypt for a quoted airfare price. When I finally got the final invoice there was a charge for fuel and misc things that was nearly the equal of the basic fare quote. We flew economy to avoid more upgrade costs. We certainly felt like we had been ripped off badly.
That was before we had to deal with the TSA folks. Don't get me started with them. We had four intra-Egypt flights on this vacation and Egypt has their TSA people go at us twice vs once. First one is normal without having to empty pockets, remove belts and shoes, and no pat down. The second one is the "full monte" of all of that. We wound up with three stops through Germany and received a full immersion gestapo experience with their TSA as well. And yes after all of that I don't really ever want to fly again either.
TSA = Thousands Standing Around. "I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help."
Why single out the airlines for these fees? It's part of America!
Check fees, taxes or whatever you choose for a label on car rentals (CRAZY), hotels, your electric bill, cable, phone bills...
A rose by any other name!

That's what happens when "little" people get large power.

My wife and I (both elderly) made a 1 stop flight trip to Kalifornia and were thoroughly searched twice - typical terrorist profile we!
Fighting for overhead baggage space, crowding, etc. I felt like a POW and paid for the experience.

Totally agree! These people need training, but it has been over 20 years since 9/11 and nothing has changed!

Final invoice? They suck you in with a low fare then stick it to you with a fuel charge ?
At that time I would have told them where to put the plane!!
But then again if I can't drive to get somewhere I don't go!!
They chased us away a few years ago. The seats got smaller, the leg room less, and suddenly extra fees, and (can't blame them for this) the long lines to be x-rayed barefooted.
