Every camera and lens will have it's own recommendations about VR or IBIS and tripods. Here is the recommendation from Nikon in the Z8 reference manual.
"[Normal] and [Sport] are also recommended if the camera is mounted on a tripod or monopod. Note, however, that [Off] may be a better choice with some tripods depending on shooting conditions. Settings may vary from lens to lens; consult the lens documentation for more information."

No, but there is a downside to not renewing. I'll have to look into that again.

EDITED: Wow! There's no real drqawback.

"if you do not renew the subscription, there is no download capability. You can't download from your banks, securities, etc. you have a glorified checkbook which you will have to manually enter all the transactions.

the download features are only available with a subscriptiuon (Quicken has to pay for all the infrastucture to may that occur, so the subscription helps pay for your fair share)

you also don't get the benefit of any future features or enhancements.

So you have to ask yourself is if the convenience of downloading the transactions (and not manually entering them) is worth $70 / year......

I've also seen other posts where there are annoying ads taking up about 25% of the screen encouraging the subscription....."

Actually what you lose is the ability to directly connect Quicken to your accounts at the financial institution and download within quicken. If you can download from your bank website a QFX datafile then it will still import into quicken. Manual entry is not required.

If you want to take a picture of the youngster then do that. Get closer, use the zoom or both. Your too far away to even take a picture of the family.

A lot better than the 5 year old MacBook Pro I was using. If you use Lightroom must increase the cache from the default 5GB to at least 50GB.

#1 is better because #2 looks a bit too green. Both would be better if there was some light separating the background. The edges of her hair merge.

Here's a good explanation from Hudson Henry.

Yes, use a helicopter or hot air balloon to get closer... What???

The image was downloaded, cropped, and cleaned with AI Topaz Denoise, and Sharpen. The contrast was improved as well as the color tweak with Topaz Clarity. Then to up the resolution Topaz Gigapixel was employed at 2x.

Comments, please

No better just different.

I don't understand how focus stacking is going to help blur the background.

Focus stacking will help keep the whole car in focus at wide open apertures.

In my Nikon cameras while in full manual mode EC changes what the camera meter reports as correct exposure to allow you to manually adjust your settings to zero out the meter to include the EC selected.

Are you dropping new files into a folder that already exists in LRc and then syncing? Maybe try to import the new items in using the "Add" option.

The only time I've used that sync option is if during an edit outside of Lightroom i did a save as to get another copy then wanted the new copy to be in the library. A very rare thing.

I don't understand the question.
Bridge is a file browser. It sees the folders on your drive like Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. Light room Classic need to be told the folder exists and that you want to include it in the database by importing it.
What do you mean by "syncing"?
If you move folders in Bridge lightroom classic won't know where they are. If you move folders in Lightroom they move in Bridge too.

Yesterday I noticed that a subset of the photos I shot in RAW and imported into Lightroom Classic were converted to JPEG files. Just some of the photos, not all of them. I used LRC to import. I right-clicked on the folder I wanted to import to in the library module, and went from there. The usual import process (although the right click on the folder is a new trick for me). I hate the fact that I shoot in RAW and then I don't get the benefits of that for some photos. I noticed that the Denoise function in LRC doesn't work on JPEGs. Why does this happen, and more importantly how can I prevent it? Thanks for any thoughts.

I don't know about other cameras but if I start a video I can capture stills at the same time that will be jpg's regardless of the camera being set to capture RAW in photo mode. Did you by chance capture some stills while shooting video?
As Paul said Lightroom doesn't change the file to jpg on import. The only options are to Move, Copy, Add, Copy as DNG

You need to shoot with slower shutter. Lights are flickering 60 times/sec.

Good to know, thanks. I just wish editing could be done directly in Bridge or LR.

Editing can be done in LR and the edits will sync to LRc as long as the images are in a LRc collection set to sync. The caveat is I believe if your using camera specific profiles in LRc they don't show in LR and you will get a warning that basically means editing in LR is like starting over. if you are using Adobe profiles the edits sync seamlessly.

Im messing around with LR now..the one thing I don't see is collections. I understand, and use, albums on the cloud, but collections is a valuable tool for me. So, from my limited time with this, having a catalog may still be important. The collection portfolio has to be stored somewhere. But absent that, if you don't use collections, or rely on the cloud then it just may make sense. What I also see is that someone could use another cloud storage (such as dropbox) to store and edit local photos.

Still learning

Collections in LRc show up as albums in LR. What does not sync are collection sets from LRc which are analogous to folders in LR.
