I use a card reader because I fill up the cards or I am shooting a different subject. Once upon a time it was a good Idea to use a card reader because the camera would get hot while transferring. I use the compact flash cards and on a job we might have 3 or 5 cameras and swap card 5 or 6 times a night so about 30 swaps a night and only have bent the pins one time in about 7 years. (The guy who bent the pins tried to shove the card in backwards with a great deal of force. He is not working with us anymore.) If I had the SD card and shot just for fun or as a hobby then I think I would use the USB or even better the Eye Fi card. It will transfer your photos as soon as you get the camera in the same room as the computer. I got one for a point and shoot it's super cool.

Everything is wall worthy it's your wall go nuts. I like the top shot and the bottom shot. If you find yourself in a similar situation again try a smaller F stop. From the look of the shots I would say you were at f 5.6 or wider try F11 or F16 you will get more dramatic light rays. You will have to bust out the tripod but that what the thing is for.

Try E bay I have sold most of my darkroom stuff and there was a ton of it. They are still folks in darkrooms out there. The enlarger is a hard sell. But it's a small one so maybe. Try shipping it with out the base board I t will double the weight of the package and they are easy to make Good luck

I don't know if you shot this already or not. If it was me I would rent a better rig. get the canon 7d and a fast zoom With that camera you can shoot at 1600 ISO and get good photos and with a 2.8 lens you will be able to focus in low light. Shooting on P or any of the auto settings is not a real good idea. All of that white ice will fool your exposure. Your lighting should low but even so manual would the way I would go. Keep your shutter above 125th mono pod if you got one. The camera and lens will run you under a c note for the day. Add a 580 flash for another $20. Better to blow some of your profit on this job and maybe you'll get a job your equipped for next time. Ice rinks are dark dark dark. The good thing is all that ice makes a kick ass fill card.

Flash yes of course. If you get shut down by the church make sure you let your Bride know. I think every time I have had to shoot with no flash in a church some guy stands up in the pew and starts popping away with a point in shoot. Oh well it's all part of the job. A good way to make the flash less distracting is to use off camera flash. Not only does it look better since the fact that the light is not coming from the camera tends to make it less distracting.

I edit on my desk but sometimes I use a mini laptop. There is a great image soft wear I use on my mini. It's good for a quick edit and to cut down images. The best part is the way the you can view all the images at full screen and the tools and meta-data are on the hidden in the sides. They pop out when you roll over them. Oh and one more good thing it's free. Hehehehehe Faststone image viewer http://www.faststone.org/ check it out
