My desk is so uncomfortable and bothers my neck and shoulder a lot when I sit for long lengths of time. I have tried everything to rearrange my desk, chair monitor etc.
I was wondering if a laptop is my solution so I can move around more.
I use our Ibook with Iphoto for alot of mine. I am in the process of transferring a bunch of old video and photo files to external memory so that I can install photoshop. Seems to work well enough, but it may depend on how big a project your planning.

I use my Mac 15" Laptop Pro to edit all my photos. I have Lightroom 3, Photoshop CS4, Photomatix, OnOne Suite, and many more plug-ins for both the LR3 and PS CS4 installed on my Laptop. You can view these photos if you go to my website. Arnold

I have a Dell mini and do everything on it. But everything is about your posture. I can get just as sore and achy using this.
ADUBIN...Your site is STUNNING! Thanks for the tip :)
I ONLY work on my laptop. I have a Dell Inspiron which runs Elements 10, Paintshop Pro XI, Dynamic Photo HDR5 and my Canon software. I back up all my photos to an external hard drive. I pretty much only surf the web and process photos on my laptop, so I still have oodles of hard drive space left.
I've been using my laptop but its a mini and when I look at my pics on larger screens I am finding I am not liking it as much... Considering getting a good computer for editing!

Always work on my Alienware M17X had it built specifically for my Photos and memory. Works well from the back of my Jeep on an inverter. The only drawback is the weight

Usually I edit on a mini, though I have an external usb hard drive that makes it possible to have the software necessary with me, and not use all available space in my internal hard drive. (Crap up a mini, and they run so slow, they're frustrating!) I like the portability. I also, with some cameras, edit "in camera" if the camera has this capability. Lomo's are a different story, there's no way around the physical restrictions a lab places on my work. Digi's though have so many options, and possibilities. I know some people that even edit online from their phones.

I always used a desktop, but it was getting a lot old. :) So I decided to buy a new laptop, just more or less to surf the web with.
So I bought a fully loaded Dell Inspiron, and found to my surprise it works very well for editing, and all such stuff.
I even us it to drive a printer, thats five times bigger than the laptop is.
PS. I store all my image backups on DVD's, external hard-drives go south too often.
PWhisperer...what kind of laptop do you use? Your work is WOW!
Thx. I use a fairly new HP 17" with a hi def monitor. Nuttin fancy.
