The local gallery where I display requires D rings and wire for hanging. So I have to use a physical frame. But with no mat, spacers are needed, too.

Then read my earlier post..... They are not cheap.....I don't know why a fair would encourage it..... Mine does not......

If using digital mat, then a simple frame, where do you buy inexpensive framing spacers to keep the glass separated from the print? I got a piece from a local framer who just gave it to me, but I need a reliable source.

I belong to a community Art guild comprised 95% of fine artists. Most are very talented with water color, acrylics, and oils. Some base their subjects on photographs; others start from their own drawings. I'm quite envious of those who can take a vision through the eye, through the brain, out the fingers onto paper or canvas. I cannot do that. I express my art with a camera (avocation - not pro), and I have felt that the fine artists are somewhat condescending toward the two photographers in the guild. I've heard the snarky remarks about simply pushing a button. Most of them have no photography exposure beyond their cell phones and have never spent hours waiting or searching for just the right shot, light, composure, etc. Not to mention post processing. Now there has been some talk of making our friendly annual art show "juried", and I wonder if this is a subtle way to discourage photography. Does anyone have any advice how to counter this suggestion?

I love taking photos of flowers and leaves! The Portland Oregon has so many amazing gardens, which I frequent with my camera. This hosta leaf is one I have had printed on canvas 16 x 20 (Canvasondemand.com); it will hang in our community gallery next week.

The other I cropped from a larger photo and messed with a bit in Elements.

I had to say goodbye to my cat of 12 years on June 23. I adopted a new cat from the animal shelter on June 25. Apparently I now have the only cat in the world which is not interested in boxes. I have tried big ones, small ones, tall ones, short ones, thin ones, wide ones, new ones, old ones. This is what she likes.

I'm so sorry for you losing your sweet kitty. Since I lost three cats in 2017-18, I have adopted two rescue cats (Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, OR - shameless ad), neither of which is interested in boxes. Or bags! This is my boy - Beej.

A fleshy growth like a chicken's comb. It is thought to be a cooling system, like in chickens, as they cannot perspire. It would bleed profusely if injured.

My husband used to shoot with Nikon F series' cameras. What he missed most with digital is reprocity failure. He had some great shots on film but could never duplicate that phenomenon digitally.

I love sandhill cranes. When my late husband (photographer) and I wintered in Tucson while full time RVing in 2017, we took a few days to go to Whitewater Draw for the migration. We were a bit late - there were "only" about 7,000 cranes there. At the high point, they number over 20,000! We enjoyed the solitude; I think the Platte River area gets very crowded during migration. There were a few resident sandhills in one of the RV resorts where we stayed near Orlando. They were very accustomed to humans and one could get with in a couple of yards of them. I had always thought the red patch was feathers!

I took my late husband's Nikon D5200 (too complicated for me) to a camera dealer who told me, based on the serial number, that it was gray market and did not make an offer. My husband had purchased it from BH Photo, so I was surprised.
