Thanks so much for posting these, Val! Beautiful pictures of a most unusual plant. The leaves are so much like those of an orchid, but the bloom is completely different.

You are welcome Donna I have never had one like this before, my friend has a pet shop and she sells plants, as I help her out I saw it and thought it different. It did not have a flower then and cost me about £1.75p so I got a bargain...

I've never seen such a plant. That's really neat! Is it a kind of Orchid?

No, it is native to South Africa and is from the Amaryllidacae family. If you google Paintbrush plant you will find there are quite a few that are given the name of Paintbrush... Thanks for looking..

I took the pictures as I want to update the pictures I have of them on the wall. I used a reflector and on camera flash and they were taken late afternoon in a shaded part or the garden.. comments welcome.

Great pictures of an American Green Tree Frog.... It must be great to get one in the wild as we only have them in captivity over here.

Innovative, perhaps, but it certainly is illusive when it comes to categorization - Minimalist (?), Low Key(?), Monochrome (?), Abstraction (?), or New-Fangled Folderol (?). At any rate, I haven't seen one of its like heretofore.

I have spent some time in the past few months photographing old, abandoned houses and farm buildings, giving many of them a Low Key treatment to somewhat isolate them from their immediate surroundings. As I was driving about yesterday I wondered why no one ever shoots new houses, so I determined to do just that. But I didn't want it to be clearly recognizable as a modern home. I wondered if I could "suggest" the presence of a home. I don't know. Did it work?

I've been a photographer for many years and never really thought too much about how tightly my L glass lenses mount to the body of my 5D Mark III. However, another photographer friend of mine with a similar camera, voiced concern about the wiggle of his 70 to 200 L glass lens on his camera body. I checked mine and found a similar amount of wiggle. I've found that amount of wiggle to be normal on my Canon equipment, especially with the larger lenses. Now, I am very conscious of the wiggle and wondering what is normal and what is not. If there is wiggle where the lens mounts onto the body, would that not be a weatherseal problem? I have not had any sign of the wiggle affecting the quality of my photographs. Can the lens mount be adjusted so that there is a tighter fit? Is such a loose fit normal on the Canon bodies? What is a normal amount of wiggle? I recall discussing this with someone years ago who told me that a certain amount of wiggle is normal. But the term "loose" is a subjective term and what is loose to one person is not to another. I'm wondering what is normal and if it's a problem if the lens wiggles on the camera. There are no bent pins and everything seems to be fine upon visual examination. There also appears to be no problem with the operation of the camera.

I had this problem with my lens (sigma) and when I asked at camera club about it I was told that the screws had come loose on the lens. I tightened them and have had no problems since.

I convert some of my own photographs to 'Pencil Sketch' texture images, suitable for sandwiching with other color photographs for effect. I have also exchanged texture images with other photographers.

I have been asked to post examples of texture photographs, and examples of how I use them.

I add my texture patterns to Smart Photo Editor at http://www.smartphotoeditor.com , and use this program to sandwich with my color photos.

I use Smart photo editor and it is interesting to see what you use and will kook for your textures, do you use the same name?
