Images Used for Texture Sandwiches

I convert some of my own photographs to 'Pencil Sketch' texture images, suitable for sandwiching with other color photographs for effect. I have also exchanged texture images with other photographers.

I have been asked to post examples of texture photographs, and examples of how I use them.

I add my texture patterns to Smart Photo Editor at http://www.smartphotoeditor.com , and use this program to sandwich with my color photos.

Interesting...very! Seems more than a bit of judgement needed to get the right density of detail in the images to be combined?

Here is an original, which you may copy, and an example of conversion to 'pencil sketch' of same. Balancing contrast with outline detail is important.

I have been asked by Photo Critique Section Manager to move this thread to Post Processing Section. Admin should do so within a day or so.

At times people will look harder to see the image if the image is partially obscured.

I really like the effect on the butterfly photo. I'd like to see more of this approach, and I'd like to know how you are doing the sandwiching. I can figure out how to do a pencil sketch in photoshop, and I've been experimenting with textures in Perfect Effects, but I'd like to know more about how to use the textures without sacrificing the detail and rich colors of the photograph itself.

PhotoShop pro ides many ways to create "drawings." I use /Filters/Filter Gallery, and explore using filters together, to get the effect I like.

Am I catching more than a little bit of Robt. Rauschenberg's and the Black Mountains School's influence in these images?

Not consciously, but I do like Jasper Johns, and who knows what terrible influences I've picked up!
