It was a cold but beautiful morning out at the Wildlife refuge this morning. This was taken just before the sun came up.

Lorima, you captured a beautiful surreal early morning experience. What area of Colorado is this Wildlife Refuge in?

Mike, you have captured one of the best Bald Eagle takeoffs I have seen. Great work!

I never pass up an opportunity to photograph these splendid creatures. The Great Blue Heron's stalk-still hunting postures makes it easy and their beauty makes it necessary!

Rockdog, you did capture, very well, the beauty and magnificence of all of these Great Blue's.

Spent the weekend at the the St. Augustine Bird Fest and a few hours at the alligator farm. The rookery was a mad house with all sorts of bird traffic on foot and in the air. A lot more to process and a few more to post at bit later.

Exceptional captures, I have not made it to the alligator farm yet, but it's on my bucket list.

Not far from where I live there is a small clearing in a roadside woods where daffodils bloom in the springtime. I am attracted to that place as, to me, there is nothing that says "Spring !" quite like blooming daffodils. This clearing is also a place of wonderment, as there is no sign of habitation other than a small access way from the road. Yet, I believe someone must have planted those daffodils and perhaps cleared the trees, and built a home there. The house, if ever present, has disappeared, but the daffodils remain. What has happened to those who cleared the trees and who may have been building a dream there ? All that remains are the blooming daffodils, announcing the coming of spring.

This is one of "my" squirrels. He is waiting for me to put out more peanuts. He was nice enough to pose for me. People have asked me how I can have cats and birds and squirrels living in harmony. The main reason, I think, is that food trumps fear. The cats have mostly gotten used to the other dennisons of my yard so they don't really chase them. The squirrels and birds have learned to keep an eye out, so they all coexist.

Great detail and expression. What is he/she sitting on?

This guy kept approaching a bison, even though warned by snorting and an upright tail. We were a safe distance off and not prepared to take photos. Poor quality, but you get the idea.

Thank goodness for a patch of trees.

Google the term "touron" if you're not sure what it is.

Failure to engage brain before capturing the shot. A picture is worth a thousand words. Your series says it all.

Colour is natural and alive. B&W photos are flat and dull to my eyes. To each their own but what is the attraction to B&W? Just curious.

This is not a question about cameras or lenses per se. But I am asking for your- witty fellow UHHers' - suggestions. I am getting a female Golden Retriever puppy who will be my photo trip companion on my future treks out with my camera. We will be out there, in the great outdoors, shooting landscapes and Western Wandering Vistas together. I am trying to think of a photography-related appropriate name for her. I want it to be a short, simple, easy to say name, but not a generic "nikon" or "cannon" or such; nor any name that could be mispronounced- such as "focus." I'm sure there is something fun and witty, but can't think of any.
My daughter used to have an adopted three-legged dog I nick named "tripod." That was fun.
Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Your new best friend, a female Golden, will have a lot of "Flair".
