Colour is natural and alive. B&W photos are flat and dull to my eyes. To each their own but what is the attraction to B&W? Just curious.

If you have to ask, you will never know why.

High contrast shots are often more dramatic in B&W than color as shown in the attached examples.

I, like many others I suppose, was brought up on B&W photography. Working with newspapers, where B&W was the norm. Gradually colour was introduced, perhaps just on two pages. I got my distinctions with the Royal Photographic Society, and Master Photographers Association, with panels of B&W Prints. I think D76 runs in my veins.

The same reason people like tall, short, thin, heavy, red or blond hair in their dream mate. Can I introduce you to the term taste?

All I can say is either you haven’t seen good B&W or you need to have your eyes checked.

Beautiful photos, Bill. I like the coloured one better.

I love color too. But B&W can make a very dramatic photo. I have always loved B&W photography ever since I discovered Ansil Adams when I was in college.

I've seen some beautiful B&W in these years, grew up with it, I do like color though, sometimes I take my shots and convert to older processes , easy in Paint Shop Pro, change to Sepia or Cyan or B&W, some I like some I don't, taste, funny though, some times doing the conversion and wait a day to decide if I like it and my opinion changes, I suggest you try some yourself, Bob.

To me it's the shadows!

Also you can see the spaceships better like in Bill1967's B&W photo.

Get real and keep your insults to yourself. I have seen plenty of both. It's like watching a movie that is in colour while the second edition is in B&W. There is no comparison what-so-ever. The same for photos.

Love the B&W. You notice the detail in a B&W photo, whereas in a color photo, the color distracts you from the detail. Like them both but the B&W rocks!!!!
