I have three different brands, but maybe I should move to Colorado.

No, try Arizona where you don't have to worry about a stinking signal from Colorado.

Why would you NOT crop if it improves composition?

Good point! But you (or I) have to set limits somewhere! I'm pretty much committed to wildlife and landscapes.

Just in case you're interested: Tucson Astronomy Festival
This year, it will be held Saturday March 30, 2024 from 3 - 9 pm at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park
I'm probably going to set up my scope with others for viewing Heavenly Bodies.

Captured with a Sony A7R V camera and Astro-Tech 65EDQ scope with a Hutech HEUIB-II filter on a Celestron Evolution mount; 67x30 sec. subs @ ISO3200.

Alignment, stacking and initial stretch done in PixInsight. The remainder of the postprocessing was done in Lightroom and Photoshop (A-P).

The first image shows the full frame image. The second image concentrates on Markarian's Chain at the top of the field-of-view.

Enjoy!

One of my favorite subjects, but haven't managed to get one as good as yours. All I can say is billions and billions...

How could we not enjoy?! These are GREAT! I'm resisting with all my strength getting into Astro Photography! I'm glad you are doing it so I can just peak in every now and again!!
And yes, as you say, we are all born of stardust! How fascinating is that!?

Just do it!!! You can sleep after you're dead.

Nice photos of Glamis. Smart move on the camera choice around all that sand.

Old farms are a treasure trove of photo opportunities. We are very fortunate to have several in the Lehigh Valley and vicinity that date back over a hundred years, still owned by the original families. From the prerequisite farm cat to things like apple presses, these are items that make a farm special.

Nice series. Thanks for sharing. Takes me back when I was a kid visiting Grandpa's farm in Windsor Colorado.

I shot this (Fall 2017) while hanging my camera over the edge at Horseshoe Bend. Is that still allowed?

I have heard that since then there is a paved path and a railing--any truth to that?

There was a small area that had railing when I went in 2021. Yes, lots of people, and yes I layed down and reached my camera over the edge. I wasn't about to let a strong gust of wind send me over the edge.

As for full frame I figured if upgrading go with larger sensor. 16 x 20 is as large as I'll print.

Full frame will let me crop more too.
Granted my logic can be faulty
I also do astrophotography through a 10 inch scope

Maybe spend some of that refund and get one of them full spectrum modified to improve your astrophotography.

Thanks Albireo.
I might get the hang of this yet.
All it takes is money and patience.

I'm not sure which is harder to obtain, patience or money.
