Very nice set, Walt!

Thanks Mike! I am really loving the Canon EF 70-300 IS II USM lens on my Rebel T8i.

Fun set

Thank you, they are very skittish any movement and they disappear. So it is nice to see them going about their business quietly. It is long distance for my 300 mm zoom so the close ones are heavily cropped. Glad you liked them Curmudgeon.

The little pond by my house is always active with something, I love to sneak up discreetly and zoom in to see what I can find. You never know, this is from a couple weeks ago.

There are Wood Ducks that usually nest in some of the trees , soon I will go investigate but it is very tick infested and it takes a lot of prep to get ready.

We have had all kinds of mammals too, including foxes, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats , a mountain lion, bears, deer, skunks. I have not seen the cats or the bear and no pics but now I always approach it prepared.

I’m not flying again ever, I do not want to pay to be treated like a criminal either. I’ll drive where I please and enjoy being in charge of me….as best as one can nowadays. Hood post! OP!

I had my Canon T1i shutter fail. I get an error message and instructions to turn it off and back on. After 10 or twenty tries it works again for a few pics. Shutter sticks. Canon said it was too old to repair.

I bought a new Canon t8i to replace it. Love the camera and all the improved features…just after the warranty period was up the shutter failed and I was always getting half of a frame. Canon repaired it for $283 bucks. Sure glad to have it back.

I have a T6 for backup which works fine no problems ever. But I long for another T8i for backup.

In defense of the shutter failures I shoot high speed continuous and the T8 failed around an estimated 60,000shutter counts.

In retrospect I think it was faulty from the beginning but I never knew what expect nor was able to recognize it while under warranty. I am learning by shooting lots at different settings to see for myself the effects and have had a great time doing so. Walt

Yes you CAN learn Morse code in 20-30 minutes. If you mean the dots & dashes only. The method was printed in an old Field & Stream magazine decades ago. I used it to teach 5-7th graders in our Church Royal Rangers group. The kids loved it and we used to leave Morse Code messages on the Blackboard for the Pastor to decipher...they both had fun writing & deciphering it!

We also learned to send SOS & other very short messages by flashlight in the dark. Not saying any of us were were proficient by any means but it was of some value.

I think about landing on ice free tarmac! You want me to deliberately land in a BIG plane on ICE? If I call 911 will a penguin come to my rescue? No thanks,

Nice pic! I’d say however Eurasian Collared Dove…I have them in Oregon too. Very invasive species but they sure pose for great pics! Congrats!
