The timing seems to be correct... now I am experimenting with lights.

Perfect timing and a great shot! Mind sharing how you did it?

This challenge is all about focusing in on the small details that make up the larger picture. These can come from nature, architecture or from a closer look at crafted items. Here are a few to start: Have fun!

This is a very old (at least 100 years) South American stirrup, one of a pair that was given to my grandfather on one of his trips there.

Beautiful dog, and you captured a beautiful expression, too.

While I mostly use a viewfinder, I really like flip out screens. Makes it easier to shoot over your head in crowds, or down low close to the ground. Also to take candid shots without having the camera to your eye, getting natural rather than posed or "frozen" shots. And for the occasional selfies.

I'm old, so have never figured out touch screens. But a fully articulated screen is a must for my primary camera.

Ditto for me. I like the articulated screen. However, I have too often accidentally touched the screen, so I turned that feature off.

We ran a photo booth at the senior's centre in my home town with the members of the local photo club taking pictures for the public at no charge. Many of them needed some serious corrections . . this one happens to be one that I have permission to use and wanted to see how some of you would turn this into a desirable image to possibly frame.

Please feel free to download the photo to your computer. Then you can edit it as you feel appropriate. Color shifts, black and white conversions, filters, whatever you want to do. When you are finished, post your edit in this thread. Edits will be accepted until Thursday at 9 pm. At that point we will switch over to Voting. Thank you for participating.

What a great idea, both for the photographers to practice and for a service to the community! So far, I like Jim-Pop's rendition. I like the way it is cropped and the way the background has been made less prominent.

Thank you for your service. That is an interesting setup for digitizing your slides. I recently found a whole carousel tray of slides that my dad took of some of our family vacations back in the 50's/60's. Amazingly, I also found some slides from about 1943, and can't believe how good the color is on most of them. I think I could actually try your method.

After reading info here and online, I decided to make a string tripod. Just finished it yesterday, so have not "field tested" it, but I think it will help (and is light-weight and easy to carry). I also wear glasses, so the forehead suggestion would not work for me, but I may take suntouched's suggestions about forehead stabilizers.

Wonderful shot! Makes me tired just to look at him-imagine the strength it takes to lift that fish.
