I took this with my Nikon D5300 and a 24mm fixed f1.8 Nicor lens. I am almost embarrassed to post this after seeing the Milky way photos taken by the gentleman with the astro enhanced camera. I am very low budget but even the crop frames will take good night photos. I am in the process of saving enough money to buy the D850. I will return!

Geez, if youโ€™re embarrassed by that I need to go crawl under a rock. Thatโ€™s gorgeous.

Great shot! Don't disappear. But you might just be lethal with that D850!

Though it is possible that more expensive equipment might provide sharper rendering of individual light sources, you have produced a wonderfully evocative image. Your composition featuring the dark tree alongside and parallel to the path of stars is the work of a true photographer.

WOW - I sure like your image - I'll say it is great that you studied up on how to use your current camera proficiently - no need to change.

Larry, Outstanding Capture. You should get it printed and hang it in your home. It is not the camera but technique that you have under your belt. Did you take this near Palouse?
