I apologize if this shows up twice but I can't find it so here I go again: By all means stop and visit the Corn Palace. It is a most unique place and real Americana.

Except the Corn Palace is at least 4-5 hours east of the Black Hills and nothing much in between unless you get off 90 and hit the back roads for old homesteads kind of stuff.

Ok where do we start - Badlands early or late in the day, Mt. Rushmore, the Needles highway, the pigtails between Rushmore and Custer State Park, Spearfish Canyon, Sturgis, Horsethief lake (just past Rushmore on the left side of the road), Harney Peak, Air and Space Museum at Ellsworth AFB, Deadwood and on and on. Good luck, will be there in July for a high school reunion and planning to shoot a ton of pics as well.

The scary part is that these same people vote.

As evidenced by who is in the White House.

Nice photos. Well done. Did you celebrate with a well-deserved Kölsch beer in the pub right behind where you shot the second picture?

It's called the Fruh. That cathedral was started in 1220 and finished in 1880. Not your overnight job.. Good pics, thank you for posting

Thank you. That is what we needed-the statistics WITH sources.
I was a new RN working pediatrics in the late 70's. A guy worked on the unit next to mine-I had under 6 years old, he had 6-12 years old. We both worked 11-7. I was called at about 4 PM one day to be notified before I heard it on the news that his 4 year old son had gotten a shot gun from behind the sofa and blew the head off of his 2 year old who was in a high chair eating breakfast in front of the TV. No one in the family ever went in the house again. That was enough for me. Thanks again. SL
Thank you. That is what we needed-the statistics W... (show quote)

Truely a sad story, but WHERE WERE THE PARENTS?

I am shooting a D7000 and picked up the SB700 on sale just before Christmas for $ 299.99. Could not let it pass and just tried it a couple times mounted on top the camera - great crisp pics. You will not be sorry you bought it.

Yep, you must shoot those lenses in M mode on the camera and make sure that you set the F-stops the same in manual mode that you have it set on the lens.

I agree with the 18-300mm advice. Additionally, if you are shooting mid-day and it is sunny, the flash will help with fill/contrast, etc.

Thanks for the advice. My guess is that it will be overcast so hopefully the flash will help with the white balance too?? Just gotta make sure I put the camera stuff away before the Kolsch drinking starts, lol. What ISO would be best in those conditions - 200/400?

18-300mm might be your best bet. for indoor wide angle shots it might be better to use your kit lens. I don't know if I would use a flash for bar/restaurant shots...people eating might get a little upset. The D7000 has good low-light capabilites.

Thank you for the advice but I do not own a kit lens any longer. I suppose I could use a higher ISO on the inside shots? The people inside would be doing a whole lot more drinking that eating, lol. But good advice...
