What are your thoughts on this?
I wonder if this will be legal under various states' privacy and labor laws?

You weight is an integral part of your health where too much can put you at a higher risk for too many problems to list therefore costing the employer monies in paid-for-health insurance, sick days and other such expenditures.

I think everyone should be issued a calorie card. Every time you make a food purchase, you must present the card. When you have used up your allotment of calories for the month, you can purchase no more food.
You would go to the doctor who would certify the amount of calories you need.

Then we would have food dealers on the corner,"Hay buddy, do you want to buy a candy bar?"

:? :D

Gotta run your post through Snopes, Remoman. The truth of the story is that CVS does not want to know their weight. It only wants to require that their employees be screened by their personal Dr. for weight, BMI, and glucose. The information would private under Doctor, patient confidentiality. CVS just wants to know that the employees have been to the Dr. and been screened.

I'm getting different information from different news sources. ABC is saying that Doctors would actually report the results to a third party but that CVS would never see the results. I wouldn't trust this system. If CVS wants their employees screened, they should allow them to go to their own doctors and provide a written affidavit that they have been screened. I agree that the employees should not be required to give their personal information to anybody they don't want to.

********
Hi SteveR What words did you use to search on Snopes? I tried several combinations - including just the word CVS and did not find anything on this story.

My daughter works for CVS. She was sent a form which she had to take to her doctor to have filled out. The information contained: weight, glucose level, blood pressure, height and percentage body fat. This form was then sent to a third party, not CVS Corporate. My daughter is not over weight, exercises on a regular basis, eats correctly and has no health issues, but she was offended that she had to have this form filled out, she feels it is an invasion of her privacy. I guess the real question is, if the information that was gained by this form has "no" effect on premiums, unless you do not fill it out, what is the point? If they are just trying to get employees to see their doctor on a regular basis, they could have a form to indicate just that, nothing more.
