Shooting pictures at Karneval

Hello, I am going to Karneval in Bonn Germany in about a week and need to know the best lens and technique for getting good shots. I have a D7000 and two lenses to choose from - Sigma 150-500 or Nikor 18-300. I also have a Manfrrotto 3021BPRO tripod or a Vanguard Espod AM-263 monopod. Been thinking I should use the 18-300 and monopod. Also have an SB700 speedflash and am wondering I should use that as I will be taking pics inside of a bar/restaurant as well. Weather in Germany is always iffy this time of year so need to be set up to be flexible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

18-300mm might be your best bet. for indoor wide angle shots it might be better to use your kit lens. I don't know if I would use a flash for bar/restaurant shots...people eating might get a little upset. The D7000 has good low-light capabilites.

Thank you for the advice but I do not own a kit lens any longer. I suppose I could use a higher ISO on the inside shots? The people inside would be doing a whole lot more drinking that eating, lol. But good advice...

I agree with the 18-300mm advice. Additionally, if you are shooting mid-day and it is sunny, the flash will help with fill/contrast, etc.

Thanks for the advice. My guess is that it will be overcast so hopefully the flash will help with the white balance too?? Just gotta make sure I put the camera stuff away before the Kolsch drinking starts, lol. What ISO would be best in those conditions - 200/400?

iso setting will vary with the lighting, probibly the best thing to do is expeirment with iso settings and white balance at home, this will give you a better idea what to do when you get there, good luck!
