Thanks Pepper, good explanation.
Thanks JR. 'Beyond Megapixels' is another really helpful site to learn from. One thing that it did not explain is that when a lens is marked 3.5 - 5.6 but goes up to F32 it not marked 3.5 - 32. Is it because at 3.5 to 5.6 it is at its best?
Every day I take the dog and camera out together because if I don't take the camera I always miss an interesting bird and if I don't take the dog she sulks or eats the gate.
Hi Albert, I live near Alicante. If you are a keen photographer I would certainly suggest you take take your Nikon. I am a learner with my bridge camera and take it with me most places but it is not heavy. The light in Spain is very good and I'm sure you will find views and architecture at least to shoot. Best wishes.
Thanks for your advice. Where we live in Spain finding a photo shop is not an easy process but I will keep trying. There is no real hurry as my panasonic bridge camera has quite a good reach.
With a long lens comes responsibility and a respect for the privacy of others. We all have to pay our bills but we don't all do it at the expense of others who are innocently going about their own business.
I agree with the others. Wait and see what you want. I have a FZ45. and the tele and macro on it are pretty good, depends on what are your particular interests. I have bought a cheap tele lens which doesn't focus so make sure you get the right accessories. Good luck, I'm sure you will be pleased with it.
Thank you everyone for your advice and welcome. I have contacted Panasonic and they say the lens should just screw on and function but if not I can send it back. It was purchased on the internet by my brother-in-law in Scotland (I live in Spain now) so it may be a case of sending it back through him, a bit of a nuisance to organise. If I find an answer I will post it here for others, it may be helpful. Thanks to you all again.
Thanks, this dragonfly posed for me for quite a long time making it easier to get a photo.
Hi, thank you for your quick response. Normally my photos are in focus on automatic and manual modes. The macro lenses from the same company - Neewer - seem to be working OK but the tele lens just will not focus whatever settings I use. Also, it is not magnifying the images beyond the normal zoom range of the basic camera. The camera has special settings for macro & tele conversion lenses. I think it is just the wrong lens for my Bridge camera but I appreciate your comments, thank you. I have attached photo as a sample of normal zoom on this camera.
Yes, I agree but it was a gift together with some cheap macro lenses and I feel honour bound to make some attempt at making it work.
Does anyone have an idea why my Neewer tele x 2 conversion does not work on my Panasonic Lumix FZ45 bridge camera? It doesn't multiply much and photos are out of focus on all settings. Do I need an extra tube? Camera and lens are both 52mm threads.
I am fairly new to photography and have a panasonic lumix FZ45 which I am very pleased with. However, recently I purchased a 2 x tele converter lens and some conversion macro lenses. I cannot make the tele lens function without a really blurry picture. Does anyone know if I should be using an adaptor tube and if so why. My lens thread is 52mm and the tele lens is also 52 mm and fits well. The lenses are Neewer lenses.
