I put over 25K clicks on my original Digital Rebel and about 30K on my T1i before selling them. I know both buyers and both are still using the cameras. I replace my camera bodies every two model years. That way the cameras are still in good shape are easily sold and the money goes to getting the latest technology in a new body.

I just got a new tripod as my Slik head finally gave out. I went with a sunpak 6600 pistol grip. It is lightweight and easy to use and has the braces between the legs that many tripods lack as they are designed to be flexible in rough terrain.

I just purchased a Canon T3i and downloaded the software to my computer. When I went to download the photos I had taken I was unable to get it to download. I went to utility tools and the download selection would never allow me to activate the selection. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Canon software everyday. In order for the Canon utility to open and recognize your camera you must download the drivers for the camera. Once you have the drivers downloaded you can install the complete Canon utility which includes ZoomBrowser, LiveView and Digital Photo Professional. Once you have all this installed you simply plug in the camera via USB and the Utility will start up and you can choose either to select and download, download all or you can operate and control the camera from the computer.

The nice thing about the zoombrowser (I have been using it for well over six years) is that it creates a file system by date of your photograhs that makes them easy to find and view.

If for some reason you do not have the original software discs you can purchase them from Canon and sometimes from sellers on eBay. You need to have the exact version for your camera. I do not have a T3i, I use a T2i so my software would not work for you system.

Good Luck

Want to do some macro and micro. Have canonT3i w/18-55 lens. Will extension tubes serve the purpose well, or should i invest in an expensive lens made for that? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

One of the best deals around is the old 50mm 2.8 Canon Macro. These can be had for around 250- 300 and a the life size converter that gives 1:1 is around 125. This gives you flexibility AND a 50mm prime lens that is sharp for portraits on your crop sensor camera.

Try the remove color cast in PSE on the wall. Save the file. Open again and repeat the process on another area.

I will suggest that she remove and reinstall the battery, I too have had that work.

Yeah try that. I have done that with my 7D to get it running fine again with an error 40 issue.

Just heard from my friend, taking the battery out, waiting afew min and reinstalling didn't do the trick. Thoughts anyone?

Time for a service on the camera. I had this happen on my T1i and the board in the camera was shorted. Any exposure to weather while opening the camera to replace the card or keeping a card in your pocket without a plastic case and then inserting it could cause a short in the camera. It was a tough lesson to learn. You could try cleaning the contacts on the card and in the camera with rubbing alcohol on a lint free cloth like one used to clean eye glasses or touch screens before going for service. Also a little shot of air in the cavity that holds the card while holding the camera so the opening is facing the ground may help if there is some small lint or other material in the cavity from inserting a pocket stored card.

Wow, the response to this question is amazing. I was looking for a do-it-all lens and this was going to be it. I don't really have a long lens at all and I was ready to pull the trigger on Friday. Then the Canon 55-250IS was only $144 and I bought that instead. It is not the same thing but for $144 I can try it out so I tabled the Tamron for now. Thanks

[quote=PuppyDoc]I really like the idea of macrophotography and would like to buy a lens that would facilitate this. I have a Canon T2i

I have the same camera and use a Canon 50mm f2.5 macro lens. It is an older model but works extremely well with the crop sensor. There is a life size converter that is additional to give you greater magnification but I honestly do not see the need for it as I take floral shots of our orchids. BTW the kit lens 17-55 gets really close. I took this photo of a watch movement with the kit lens from about six inches away.

I have spent so much money on lenses that I have been unhappy with. I now save money and buy only Canon, "L" if I can afford it.

That being said: I deffinately like Tamron over Sigma. I have a 9 year old 17-35mm f2.8-f4, and it is my workhorse. 90% of my photos are taken with this lens. I would purchase whatever lens you want through B&H Photo. They have a 14 day grace period, you send it back and get 100% refund (you pay shipping). They also have a program called "bill me later", you pass a credit check, and you have 6 months to pay it off with 0% interest. This comes in handy for pricey items.

Good luck!

P.S. The bigger the range of zoom, the better the chance of "not so sharp" images. (usually)

I have been reading that it is not exactly sharp, do you find that to be true?

I have been looking for a new lens in particular this Tamron and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I have never used any lens other than Canon on my cameras and remember twenty years ago when I was running a camera store that Tamron equipment was not as good as others. Has that changed? I have read the myriad of reviews on this lens and generally discount the ones that trash it as from a competitor's shill and the reviews that praise it to highly as they are mostly likely also from a shill. I just wanted some real life experience from an actual user. Many thanks.

I am looking at buying a Canon Rebel DS6041. Will it give me quality photographs? It will come with a 18-55mm lens as well as a 70-205mm Zoom lens. All other accessories included. I won't be putting money out on it but other wise trading my Laptop for it.

That is the Original Digital Rebel 300D I had one of those and used it for two years (product shot photography). It did okay for my needs. The only reason I sold mine was to get the newer model with live view. About your deal...what brand are the lenses and what condition are they in?. You have seen the stuff in person...right? Once you have lenses upgrading the body is easy.
