I too was a classroom teacher for 34 years . I was also an administrator for 25. At my district administrators at my level also had to teach classes so we wouldn't lose that connection with reality. Loved doing both.

Since I've been enjoying the amazing talent and generosity of members now for awhile, I guess I need to introduce myself as a new member. I live in Central TX, via Durango, CO, and the northern Chicago suburbs. My wife and I are retired educators and writing consultants and travel a good part of the year, both within and outside of the U.S. I first learned photography basics from my uncle on a German Retina IIIc camera: that will give many of you my approximate age. (I still credit the knowledge I acquired from having to do everything manually and with only prime lenses as the foundation of my present understanding.) I shoot Canon gear now, formerly Nikon, mostly of landscape, travel, city scenes, wildlife, beaches, and bad weather when I can find it. It's an honor to see your photographs and read your advice. I always love learning from people who know so much more than I do.

Thanks. I have the same rig, and I've been wrestling with it. (I am also recovering from a broken neck and canxt put weight on my neck/shoulders.)

These would be really saleable as large prints. Every one is so evocative of so many specific images. Well done.

Just outstanding! (And honest--no pun intended.) I wouldn't hesitate framing it and hanging it on my wall.

Outstanding, all. They seem incredibly sharp but don't appear sharpened.

Stunning photo. The lighting, shrpness, and that deep black are perfect. What was your setup?

I must respectfully disagree. The shadows in the foreground and on the mitten define the photo. Monument Valley photos in full sunlight look flat. It's that ever-changing palette of clouds there that so beautifully highlight the three dimensionality of the place.

Love that narrow pink/purple band of the horizon that also tints the clouds.
