A number of contributors to this site seem to beat the drum for Adorama's biggest competitor in New York City. (I get it; I bought my last two Nikon DSLR's from the competition.) I have not had any dealings with Adorama....yet; however, I have been having some challenges with their competition lately and a lot of those challenges seem to have started happening when the competition shifted from the Big Brown Truck to handle their shipments to Fedex Ground. If Adorama's competition is telling me/promoting that I get 2 day expedited shipping to my area, why is it taking Fedex Ground 3 days or more to deliver? I get a tracking number, I track my order for delivery, my order requires a signature at times so someone has to be there to sign. I try not to burden anyone else here to do that, they have days off too. But, when you get a delivery date, you arrange your whole schedule and day off around being there to accept and sign for the order, and nothing happens by 2 pm; and you go on line, do another order tracking and discover the delivery has been rescheduled to the following day, that really rankles me!!!!

When did you order the product? If it was a Friday they close early for the sabbath. So it probably didn’t ship til Monday even though the shipping label was printed. You have left out some key details. BandH is normally on top of there game.

I have been thinking of getting either one of these cameras as a replacement for my 3100. I wear glasses and the thing holding me back is the low eye point. Otherwise, I would probably get the 7500. I don't have a second memory slot now, have never needed it. I think the actual gains offset the hypothetical loss of not having a second card slot.

I wear glasses and went from the D3300 to the D7500 and have no regrets. The photos out of the D7500 blow away the D3300 using the lens that I had from the D3300. I had also considered the D500 but decided I didn't need the extra zoom points or extra weight. The weight was the deciding factor.

How could anyone but photographic items at Worst Buy? The worst advice ever!

Bought my D7500 there. Bought it for a song with price matching, just know your websites that sell cheap and grey market.

If you see a sign with a pick nick table and a tree pull over it’s a great photo. You have so many photo opportunities. Go to Vic for the black sand beaches. Plenty of waterfalls to see, horses, churches, landscapes etc. the people are great.

On that same note, your credit card has to have a chip in it. Also they use a different chip so call your credit card company and find out if your card will work. It may have changed but 3 years ago we needed new cards to do the trip.

The reason I use a floating ISO from time to time is that we don't want to be shooting below a certain shutter speed and we want the aperture at say F/8 or what ever the sweet spot is on your lens. The lighting condition keeps changing because of clouds drifting or it's getting darker or brighter out. It just takes one thing out of the equation when you are walking around a place like Animal Kingdom. Shooting sports I see using auto ISO so it's one less thing to fiddle with so you can just shoot.

In this instance you are still controlling everything but the iSO. This is the beauty of digital, you get to change the iSO for any given shot unlike film you had to shoot the whole roll.

My advice take your camera out and take shots of the same thing using all the different metering settings, all the shooting settings and take notes and see what each one does. Then figure what is the best method for you. I shot manual 99.9% of the time. Auto ISO I have used a few outings and found that it has it's place.

I been to Iceland I would take both lenses. But if you can only take one then I would suggest the 24 - 70.

They are both beautiful photos, but the B&W is much more dramatic.

In the few moments I was collecting these photos, the thread has devolved into snarky comments and silliness. It could have been valuable and interesting for newbies and intermediate alike. Typical UHH these days?

Lamiaceae explained the best, so far, IMO: It is a different Art form, a different experience. ...It can emphasize different elements of an image, such as contrast, texture, tone.

#1 - photographed specifically for black and white - the story is not the color

#2 - a "let's see how this looks in blue tones/b&w" a week after I shot. Don't compare with a color version; does it stand on its own?

#3 - shot specifically for b&w, overexposed and pp'd to create a simple, graphical look

Those are great shots.

I know that one of the marks of a grey market camera is that it is not sold by an authorized dealer. So, what about cameras that are sold in places such as Costco or Best Buy - do they fall into that category? I'm not looking for a new camera but this is something I've been wondering about.

Best Buy is a authorized dealer for all the major brands. Also got a great deal on my D7500 with price matching.

Try Nikons editing software since it's free and you just got the camera. You didn't mention the operating system, but if you are on a Mac, Photo's is a good starting point for dabbling in editing. You may find that what you have is all you need. From there try try trial versions of software that appeal you if you feel you need more. Like said before the best is subjective, but Photoshop/Lightroom are at the top.

How much of a problem in the final photo is created by photographing through clean window glass? Can you experts always tell if a photo has been taken through a window? It's too dang cold for this 77 year old geezer to be patient for my bird shots outside around the feeder.

Hi Les,

Shooting through glass is fine. If you are at the zoo or aquarium are you not going to take a photo because there is a pane of glass in front of you? You are enjoying your hobby and keeping active and that is what counts. As for some blur try shooting with a faster shutter speed, get a little table top tripod and have at it.

Here is a shot though an enclosed sphere on a boom above a cruise ship.
