Thanks for all the input. Seems like mostly good stuff except for Gary's focusing issue.
Gary - did you try the lens on another body and get same focus issue (if that is an option)?

I've seen some reviews of the "Tamron 18-400mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD" and it won an EISA award for 2017 (http://www.tamron.com/news/press_release/20170815.html) but I haven't found anything posted on this site. I'm considering the Nikon version for my D7200.

Anyone have this lens and care to share?

"Ditch Auto" YouTube has a video specifically for setting up the D7200 for BBF. You do have to disable the shutter half press to prevent focus on re-compose.

Here's my Snapseed edits. Straighten, brightness along shadow line, and second pass on brightness for the rocks.
Looking at them again the rocks may need some selective saturation adjustments to get the color more consistent.

Apple Snapseed

It looks like there are PC and Mac versions as well... but I have other tools for my PC.
Cheers

1) straightened original & brightened along shadow line (brushed in)

2) added extra brightening to #1 on rocks only

I've been using Google SnapSeed since my ancient laptop isn't up for PS just yet (soon to upgrade). I downloaded your original and straightened, did some selective brightening to the shadow area and again to the rocks. A bit different than your edits and I can share back here if you want or send private. Your call.

Capture NX-D seems to have similar features without the ability to add some of the meta data (keywords, copyright, etc.). Haven't played with it yet but will check it out.

I've been watching videos of LightRoom and it looks like ViewNX has pretty much the same features. I "planned" on going to LR and PS once I upgraded my computer but is it worth it? What features am I missing by staying with ViewNX? Also using GIMP for touchup... and PhotoMatix Pro for HDR.
Has anyone done a true head to head comparison of ViewNX and LR?

I've been very pleased with both my Synology NAS devices and am about to expand to a third, and much larger, device as my workload recently picked up. All of my NAS storage is RAID 1, with an additional copy off-site. Best of luck to all with this.

What type of drives did you put in your NAS box?

Anyone tried IDrive? They are doing a special today for 1TB for $14.88/yr (first year)

I'll be researching this since my Western Digital "My Cloud" failed!!!

A couple things I noticed with my D7200...
1) if you download using the WiFi... even if you shoot raw, you get JPG files on your phone or tablet. I tried using the cable connect but don't remember if that transferred RAW or jpg.
2) Using card 1 for RAW and card 2 for JPG and taking out the card & inserting into computer... I could transfer RAW (NEF) files. Just remember to turn off camera before removing and do a proper "eject" from slot on computer before taking it out. Almost corrupted one card by taking out too quickly.
Good luck!

Hi
I'm new to the forum and just started playing with bracketing on my D7200.
Merged and tone mapped using Photomatix.
Pretty new to photography so lots to learn!
