Thanks everyone! We went on that cruise and I couldn't pack my camera, then went to PA to visit family and spent a lot of time getting things situated for my father and the VA, then when we finally did get home, hubby ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction - he's doing great now but it was a tough couple of days! Things have finally settled down so that we can start taking our hikes again.

Finally was able to take my camera for a walk today! Haven't had the camera in my hand since the end of January...forgot how nice it felt.

Great place for a nice hike to enjoy that sunshine

It looks like a print was made, and then copied with the border. I think it would look better with the border cropped out, or made pure white.

I took the original photo from 1944 and scanned that into my computer, then added the composite of my father at age 87 into the original. I think making the border pure white would be too bright since you can tell it's a very old photo.

But I really do appreciate all your feedback and suggestions.

That is a very impressive and emotinal composite! Better in B&W than in color, more dramatic.

Thanks! The story behind this photo is:

The original photo was taken when my dad was 8 in 1944 and was created for the Moose Lodge. The Moose lodge commissioned a painting to be done from the photo and now that painting hangs in all Moose Lodges within the US. The name of the painting is called "Mooseheart". My great uncles were some of the original members in the Pennsylvania chapters. So I got my dad to recreate the pose a few weeks ago when I was home, he is now 87.

I started the composite but wasn't getting what I really wanted, so put a help request out on UHH for some help and with the suggestions and guidance of a few other members - this was the ending creation!

Do you calibrate your monitor ? That is most likely why your photos print blue. Do they print blue when you send them out also? If so. XRite (now Calibrate) has the ColorChecker Passport also for setting the white Balance. Use LR? Those temp slider at the top of the Basic Adjustments Panel with the slider towards blue or yellow! Data Clolor has products for White Balance also. Plenty of vids on You Tube & might be needed to be included into your photography process.

Monitor is calibrate and I can only send out photo's...I don't have a printer. This local print shop does great on color but not on B&W. I was specifically looking for companies that are good at printing B&W. I am familiar with both LR and PS and the sliders, the photo looks good on my monitor it's just a print shop issue.

Great image. I do my own printing. I bought an Epson ET-8550 a year ago and I'm very happy with the job it does with B&W and color. I just made an 11x14 print of your image on 13x19 Red River Metallic Luster paper and the print looks fantastic. I did increase the whites a bit to widen the dynamic range and ran it thru Topaz Photo AI. Printing it at 13x19 would have required cropping a bit off the top. If you want to PM me your address I can try mailing the print to you.

Sent you a PM...thanks!

Who do you use to print B&W? My local print shop does not do very well with b&w shots, they seem to come out darker and with a blue tint to them. So I am looking for a good one to send online to.

Thanks to the help of a UHHer -terryMC - I am going to print this composite of my dad at age 8 then again at age 87.

You may want to go through and clean up some of the blotchiness and spot it a little better, I haven't any more time to spend on it right now.

Awesome!! Sorry I didn't respond earlier, had to take my hubby to the er today for a bowel obstruction and just now getting home.
