Thank you all for your helpful and detailed answers to my question! I really appreciate your help.
In addition to digital cameras, I'd like to try my hand at film cameras again. In the past, I used to store new spools of 35 mm film in the freezer until I was ready to use them, and, if I remember correctly, I could save them like this for months, even years, and the film would later develop fine. Does this method of saving/freezing film still work, or has it been replaced by some other newer better method? Thanks for your input.
Thanks again for your references. I read most of the articles mentioned and found them very helpful.
Sorry Bob. And another question: how do the M6 and M7 compare? Thanks for your time.
Rich, is that your Leica M6 in your hands?
Oiy Ve, I like it, I like it!
I once had an M6 and loved it. As a matter of fact I'm wondering if I should (1) give up the rat race of getting a new DSLR every so often, or (2) give up on the (for me) huge learning curve that accompanies each new digital camera, and return to the old days of loading a film cassette in the back of a Leica, etc., etc. I see there is an M7 and others. If I go back to Leica, do you have a recommendation on which model and, from whom to buy? I live near Chicago and there is a Tamarkin store downtown. Any information would be appreciated.
I'm somewhat interested in moving to a film Leica, having owned the M2 and M6 some years back. But I'm not aware of where to buy film and where to get it developed; can any Hog help out here? Also, any opinions on which film Leica and lense(s) to buy? Finally, anyone have opinions on Tamarkin Co. in Chicago? Thanks for your help!
I agree about Central Camera in Chicago. Don't be put off by its smallness or its lack of glitz; it's a wonderful store.
I went to Calumet in Oakbrook sometime back looking for a Nikon D7100 but they didn't have it. Calumet declared bankruptcy a few years ago and this is a new Calumet without the supremely knowledgeable sales people, so again I'd recommend Central Camera. There's parking about a half block away on Wabash Ave.
Very funny. What did we do back in the 40's and 50's without FB?
Nice, I like flowing lines. Maybe don't center the shot.
Baby is very cute; good shot. Try to focus on one person doing tricks on the tramp instead of a group shot.
I think you need to get closer to your subjects. Also some of your shots are quite cluttered; try to simplify.
I don't think these statements are related to my question.
