How good is #1?!! The rapids energize this beautiful composition.

Thank you Raymond for your kind words. I like your comment, you really can see the energy flowing in the foreground of this image!

Interesting captures Mike - I see that you are new here - welcome to UHH. It would be even better if we could look at the images in download. To achieve that, please click on the little box in front of (store original) right in front of the "Add Attachment" button when uploading each picture, this will make sure that we can look at the image in full detail and not just as a large thumbprint. Welcome aboard! Joe

Beautiful. Just as I remember it from when I was there.

Thank you very much Ken, I am glad to hear that my images could live up to your memories. I will be off for a while, so take care and good bye!

Another absolutely fantastic set Joe, from the lush, green mountain pass views, to the mountain views over Lake Lucerne, and the gorgeous fiery red images at dawn over Mount Grosser Mythen... just beautiful.

Thanks Vince, for your participation in tagging along on this mini-tour, it has been a pleasure talking with you (mostly late at night over on your side of the continent!). I am signing off now, probably will not be around on UHH for quite a while, though I will try to look in as I am traveling. Thanks again - and good bye for the time being!

Beautiful landscapes and mountains Joe. I really like the first two shots of the historic houses in Lucerne along the river Reuss.

Yes, in this set we get the combination of urban and rural, with a good many buckets of water thrown in - that's pretty much the environment I grew up in - and it feels good to go "home" again a couple of times a year!

Another great set Joe. The different views from the Creux du Van are pretty impressive, especially the last one.

That was our first time at this place and we really quite enjoyed it also - it is a beautiful, but very different area up in these Jura mountains: more gentle rolling hills, with open alps for grazing, interspersed with evergreen trees, really pretty and so relaxing.

This is another fine set Joe showcasing the mountainous scenery. I like #2 from the view at the top of the Nufenen Pass looking towards the Bernese Alps, and #4, the view at Nufenen Lake. The village views of Ticino nestled in the mountains are really nice too.

Yes, we were both very happy with these extraordinary views up on the Nufenen Pass, both for the #2 rather long view and the #s 3 & 4 of much closer-by mountains. The village views in the Ticino are always enthralling, whether seen as a cluster from afar, or closeby when walking through one of the villages. It gives you an ancient feeling, like traveling back in time!

Outstanding set Joe... beautiful. I really like the last three photos taken at different times at Wengen of Mount Jungfrau and Silberhorn with the different light.

Those 3 mountain pictures are interesting: they were all taken on the same day, the first one in daylight at 4:11 pm, the second one at 8:28 pm with the late warm-colored rays of the sun still upon it, the third one 44 minutes later at 9:12 with the sunset-afterglow reflecting on the mountain. Dramatic how the change in color quality changes the ambience of the mountain.

Wow, what breathtaking mountain views Joe. That is some walkway along those cliffs in the third photo. That extra photo that you posted from a different view is something else.

Thanks Vince, that was an interesting visit to a canton we rarely visit, it is just about the furthest away from where we normally function in Switzerland - but it has breathtaking scenery (the famous Matterhorn is also in this canton, though we didn't visit it that last time) and these ancient water channels are unique to this area, vary interesting and real as you even today can walk along them.

Thanks again weberwest for your great photos of that beautiful part of the world. I have had an interest in trains and railways for as long as I can remember and I was fascinated by the cog railways in Switzerland. We also took the train to the top of Mount Rigi and were lucky with the weather which enabled us to view the magnificent scenery as captured in your photos. Cheers, Richard.

Thank you Richard for your kind words and interesting story. Cog wheel railways are really such an interesting idea, and they are certainly put to good use in these Swiss mountains. Glad you liked the spectacular scenery!
