They just don't care - been going on for years. We were in Yellowstone in 2018 and saw an area flagged along with signs saying stay out - fragil plants - resortation in progress. Seems they were restoring the area trying to get it back to natural state. We saw a wedding party being led by a wedding photographer (sign on his business van) walk out in the middle of the area and started taking pictures. We drove to the nearest ranger station and reported what was going on and they sent a couple of rangers to the area. The next day, we happen to run into one of the rangers and he let us know that the group got a huge fine and was banned from the park. The photographer was heavily fined and he and his business were banned for life.

What the web says: The 200MP sensor can take good photos in both broad daylight and low light. Photos in normal mode have captured most details and if you turn on Night Mode, the images will be on the brighter side.

For $1200 - I'll pass.

No comments on Glasses, which we all have and need them. But I'll share a true story of this morning.

When starting reading the UHG this morning I received a phone call from a Funeral Home wanting to stop by and discuss my future. My reply "No Thank You. I just got New Glasses so I'm good for at least the next 5 years".

I'm glad that training doesn't require learning how to survive a crash.

When doing my flight training, the instructor pulled the power off and said you just lost your engine - where are you going to land - the only field close by was in the middle of a forrest but it was big enough to land in so I told him I would land in that field. He had me guide the plane over towards the field, circle around into the wind, begin descent and said good job, applied full throttle and the engine stalled - we landed
We were lucky it was fairly smooth field and the bird didn't tip over. My first experience with short field landings.
We then had to push the airplane back to the tree line for enough room to take-off, started it and launched. We flew to the nearest airport and taxied behind the hangars (he knew where to go) and removed the weeds and twigs in the landing gear and washed off the airplane
When we returned to our base, he explained what happened to the boss, filled out all the paperwork for the unplanned landing, and the paperwork for the airplane to go into maintenance.

I had mono-vision done when I had LASIK done and had no depth perception issues. When I had the cataracts taken care of they took that away, so I needed mild reading glasses. Thank you for your feedback.

I guess I should be grateful that I had nearly 18 years of not needing glasses. I understood that I was just buying time and eventually age would make me need glasses. I was still disappointed. I've accepted it now....not happy but I've accepted it.

I had contacts for astigmatism and 20/200 vision and still needed readers. I tried mono with the contacts but did not like it as I rode a motorcycle and if something blocked the far eye, everything was blurry and not good on a bike. I had LASIK done in 2000 (no mono) with excellent results - 20/15 with no astigmatism - loved it, but again, still needed readers. A couple of years ago I noticed my vision degrading and now I wear glasses again for minor adjustments for distance and astigmatism (bi-focal). I can still pass the driving test without glasses but I don’t think that is going to last as cataracts are forming. I also have minor macular degeneration so I take Lutein for eye health (recommended by my eye doctor). I’m just happy I don’t need my glasses for reading or computer work.

In the case of the private jet, the plane was way too high and flying in clouds. Both of those things were a direct violation of stall recovery directions for that particular plane - clear skies, no higher that 10,000 (maybe 14,000) feet.

Unfortunately too many aircraft accidents are pilot error.

Our P3 Orion (a 4 engine, turbo-prop, multi-crew aircraft) squadron lost a plane doing stall recovery training at low altitude. This resulted in the Navy re-writing the operational training manual mandating that all stall training be conducted at or above 10,000 feet. The accident happened March 15, 1973.

When I was in flight training in a small Cessna, our stall training was conducted at or above 5,000 feet and the rules were that we were only allowed to enter a stall, not allow the bird to go into a full stall where the nose or wings dropped. We had to recover as soon as the stall warning horn started to sound. My instructor on the other hand was old school and took me up to 8000 feet and let it go into a full stall and spin to see what it felt like.

Hmm, if the Feds are doing it, maybe that’s setting a precedent that we could use to wreak havoc on the bad guys.

God & an Old Timer Knife

Cool & true story, please read. Sunday, March 3rd, 2024

Last summer I took down a long section of barbed wire fence on our property. Later on I noticed that I was missing a small pocket knife that I always carry. It’s very small, closed it comes in at 2 ¾ inch. I liked it because it did almost all the jobs I needed it to do and it didn’t take up much room in my pocket.

I looked all around the house and in all our chairs – nothing. Then, I figured I might have lost it while kneeling down and unhooking all the strands of barbed wire from the T-posts.

After I had taken the fence down I mowed the grass and weeds short along the stretch where the fence had been. So, I went out and looked back and forth along that section several times finding nothing.

That section is along the edge of our property on the perimeter that I always walk with our dogs. Every time I walk them I go slow along there looking down, back and forth searching for the knife.

Today I did the same thing because the snow is gone, the grass is tamped down from the winter’s snow and hasn’t started to grow yet. I got about ¾ of the way through that area and stopped. Again, nothing. This time, I started to pray. I talk with God a lot but I had never actually taken the time to mention the knife. So I prayed something like this, “Lord, I know that little knife is pretty insignificant, but I really liked it, and if I lost it in this area, please help me to find it.” Simple, short.

I opened my eyes, took two steps, looked down and there it was off to my left about two feet away. It was rusted and open with the small blade out. Coincidence? I don’t think so!

Picture one is the fenceline.
Two is the Old Timer knife.
Three is it after cleaning it off.
Four is the Old Timer compared to the other one my grandfather had given me, yellow and though still small, it takes up a lot more room in my pocket.

Moral of the story – Always ask for God’s help FIRST, no matter how insignificant you think the problem might be.
