I have purchased both original EyeFi and the newer Mobi. My experience is that if you have an iPad, and aren't trying to view as you shoot, (you are shooting and you want someone else to see images), I have found that its more easy to use the iPad Camera Connection Kit.
Just food for thought.
I believe through August 29 it is on sale - $150 after rebate. Fantastic printer.
Thats what forums are for - good dialog and help.
On my T5i shutdown occurs when transmission is complete; I would expect the same for yours.

Eye works in any camera that uses an SD Card. I have several cameras, from a D40X that is 5 years old, thay uses the Eye Fi card. It has no Wi Fi.... The card gave it that capacity. Put a regular SD card in the slot and it's a losses the wi fi. It's an add on device, nothing to do with the camera. It's also in my wifes SX50 that knows nothing about WiFi and works fine.
You said SX50; maybe mis-type. If its the SX510, which doesn't have the EyeFi menu, here is what EyeFi says:
You are missing my point. Yes, EyeFi will work in any camera. But, if it doesn't have EyeFi option, transmission stops when camera goes into auto-off, even if transmission isn't complete. This may or may not affect you depending on power off time and number of images taken.
But, if the camera has EyeFi menu option, like the Canon SX50HS does, (see page 245 of manual) EyeFi overrides power off until transmission is complete.
You can check this on the EyeFi site camera compatiblity section.
I didn't confuse with built-in WiFi. Maybe your Nikon doesn't have an EyeFi option.
An advantage of EyeFi is that many cameras have an EyeFi menu option. This will keep the card transmitting until all photos have transferred, overriding the camera auto-off.
Without that camera feature yo have to keep the camera on and then remember to switch back to the desired power-off time so you don't kill your battery.
minniev is right on. The biggest bank for the buck in computer performance is more RAM.
Put in as much RAM as your computer will allow. Adobe recommends 8GB.
I am pretty sure the only difference between full Lr and the update is the pricing when you go to purchase. The download file is the same. The update will look for and installed version. If it doesn't find one it will ask for the serial number of the full-price version that you purchased. All your S/Ns are available from he Adobe site.
If you are purchasing Lr for the first time it will ask you for the S/N Adobe gave you or let you trial it for 30days.
You can't. LrMobile in its current design won't read RAW files.
There is a workaround if you shoot RAW+JPEG.
1. Import the JPEG files to iPad and you can add them to LrMobile for editing.
2. Install this plug-in in your desktop Lr.
http://www.beardsworth.co.uk/lightroom/syncomatic/3. When you return home import the RAW files into the folder you created/used in LrMobile.
4. Run the plug-in. It will look for the two identical file names and sync the Lr edits from JPEG to RAW.
Smooth manual zoom and no focus motor sound in video because of stepping motor. STM lenses are designed for video.
I agree with recommendation to update software. You are buying a very good camera; why scrimp on $79 software upgrade. Shoot RAW, useLR and enjoy.
