Received from a friend (Thanks Wayne)

Remember what Nancy Pelosi said about the Obamacare bill? “We have to pass it, to find out what’s in it”.

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample".

That pretty well sums it up!

EBay no longer allows that - you cannot even defend yourself!

I seem to remember that EBay changed the rating system a few years ago in that sellers could no longer provide negative feedback. I never liked that because buyers can be just as dishonest/vindictive as sellers. I am a frequent Ebay buyer but have never been a seller.

For all you Marine NCOs out there.

THE WINE
TASTER

At a wine merchant's warehouse the
regular taster died, and the director
started looking for a new one to hire. He
posted a sign at the entrance to the building...

EXPERIENCED WINE TASTER
NEEDED POSITION STARTS
IMMEDIATELY.

A retired Marine sergeant named ?Gunny?,
drunk and with a ragged dirty look and smelling of last night's
rounds, strolled by the building and saw the sign.

He went into the building to apply for the position. Aghast at his appearance, the director
wondered how to send him away but, to be fair, he gave him a glass of wine to
taste. The old "jarhead" held the glass up to his left eye, tilted his head toward
incoming sunlight and studied the contents looking through the glass. He then took a sip and said, "It's a Southern California Muscat, three years old, grown on a north slope,
matured in steel containers. Somewhat low-grade but acceptable." "That's correct," said the boss.

Glancing at his assistant he said..."Another one, please."

The old Marine took the goblet, full of a deep red liquid, stuck his nose into the glass, sniffed deeply and took a long slow sip....rolling his eyeballs in a circle, he then looked at the director and said... "It's a Cabernet Sauvignon, eight years old, south-western slope, oak barrels, matured at eight degrees. Requires three more years for the finest results." "Absolutely correct." "A third glass." said the director.

Receiving another glass, again, the Marine eyed the crystal, took in a little bit of the aroma and sipped very softly.... ''It's a pinot blanc champagne, very high grade and exclusive,'' said the drunk calmly. The director was astonished and winked at his assistant to suggest something.

She left the room and came back in with a wine glass half-full of urine.

The old Sergeant eyed it suspiciously...a color he could not quite recall.

He took a sip, swishing it over his tongue and across his teeth, musing upward all the while ... "It's a blonde, 26 years old, three months pregnant, and if I don't get
The job, I'll name the father."

NEVER - EVER
..... UNDERESTIMATE THE
TALENTS OF A MARINE NCO!!!!

Oh, yes! I have my father's K&E 10 inch log-log duplex slipstick! Ivory engraved scales on Honduras mahogany. Lovely old thing. (The slide rule, not my father!) He was a ChemEng PhD and made the point that, in using a slide rule, you have to set the decimal point yourself, so you must have some idea of the magnitude of the answer.

I used a slide rule in the early '60s during two years of a chemistry curriculum. I still have a 5 inch pocket model, much quicker to calculate mpg than using a pocket calculator.

I just looked at mine again and saw that it is a 12" Pickett. Based on the symbols on it, it would most likely be for trig. It is in mint condition with no scratches or marks. On the end of the center slide is "Copywrite 1959" & "patent applied for". It is made of machined aluminum and is in a leather covered plastic case. I think K&E and Pickett were the two popular premier slide rule makers of the era.

How about slide rules? Anyone remember how to use one? The math calculator put the slide rule to bed. I rummaged thru some drawers recently and found the one I used back in the 1960s to calculate solutions in geometry, trig, etc. I looked at it and discovered I had not the foggiest idea how to use it.

I totally agree with all above comments. I've used PP for several years (purchase only) without any transaction problems. The only complaint I have had - and it's not really of any consequence to me - is their system will not allow deletion of a CC on your personal account that is expired or cancelled for a good amount of time. On three occasions, due to potential CC fraud (not PP related) I had to cancel and get a new card. So, to clean up my PP account I added the new card and TRIED to cancel the old one(s). The message I got was something like "you cannot delete a CC while there are pending transactions". Well, I looked at my transaction list and there were no active/pending transactions. In at least one case the last transaction was finalized months before. So, I emailed PP to ask what's going on (on two occasions) and received one of those dumb canned responses in which it simply repeated the error message I got trying to delete the old cards to begin with.

Thus, if PP does not care if their memory banks are littered with old data, it's no skin off my back. I was simply trying to keep things "clean".

I have heard a very few rumors, and that's all they are, of bank accounts being drained of funds. Can't factually substantiate that.

Bottom line : about as safe as it gets for conducting online financial transactions.

You ask "Does that mean that Mr. Obama is a liar, or simply chooses to alter the facts to satisfy his imagination or political purposes?" The answer is that it means neither. What it means, Mr. Attorney at Law, is that Mr. Obama is President of the United States and you need to get over it.

It takes about 10 seconds to find info on the web debunking this crap: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/birthcertificate.asp
I hope that your legal research skills are better that you have shown here.

Just a short note on SS: It is my understanding that when the law was enacted (FDR) it was set up as a deficit program so that eligible workers could start receiving payments immediately. Thus, the source of those receiving payments are actually funded by workers still paying into the fund, rather than the funds one paid in to the program are reserved in a private account to be drawn from at eligibility time.

I am receiving SS, but the funds are coming from workers still paying into the program, not from the funds I paid in. One of the problems with this setup is that the original framers did not anticipate an ever increasing number of recipients vs a diminishing number paying into the system.

Designing "modern" electronic controls for a car's radio, ventilation, and GPS has presented problems for both designers and drivers. Remember when you used one button to turn the radio on and adjust the volume, another to choose a station, and push buttons to select a preset station? Those days are gone forever. Now we have a touchscreen that needs the driver's attention to adjust virtually anything in the car. Not a good idea.

And the trend, at least as I see it, is for more features (i.e. electronics) and less quality, not only in vehicles but other consumer products as well. We recently purchased a new 2014 Explorer and are overwhelmed with the array of symbols on data screens. In some cases, a function can be executed by 4 different means. Even the weather and outside temps are displayed in two places simultaneously. I'm not against technology per se, but it's getting to the point of me getting overload. There's also the issue with more things to go wrong. I'm still struggling with features on my Canon 6D, 7 months after purchase.

Jerry, is this download only for Adobe CS6? I did not see Photoshop Elements mentioned, so wondering if this is program specific.
