Select the album on the tablet, then cast to TV.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to successfully accomplish this despite my tech ineptitude.

I am trying to show vacation pics on my Samsung tv. I’m trying to use my iPad as that’s where the photos reside. Since there are so many photos I made a much smaller album on the iPad but when I connect the tv it shows all the photos. Each SD card has a separate number following the Canon convention of numbering SD cards. Does anybody have a solution to show just the album I want. Camera was Canon 6D, late model iPad and Samsung Smart TV. Maybe I should say smarter than me TV. My laptop does not recognize the iPad so making a memory stick isn’t possible and town is 80 miles away and I hope to accomplish this before the next trip to town next week though if there is a hardware fix I suppose I can wait.

Not only that, but there is a movement now to reform the cash bail system, which sometimes puts people of limited means in jail for long periods pending trial.

Bail is set by several factors. Seriousness of the crime, prior criminal history, record of failures to appear, perceived willingness to appear in court after release. Unfortunately the folks that regularly commit crimes fail those “tests” and are consequently held on bail. Sadly those folks are often incapable of raising the 10% +\- that a bondsman requires because of their choice to be criminals.

I believe your only recourse is to first, call the woman and/or send her a letter asking what is going on; she contracted with you for your services at a set price which she agreed upon by sending you the check. At least give her a chance to explain what happened. Following that, if she does not pay you, your best option is small claims court as you have stated. Good luck.

. This could be a crime, determined by the state law if they recognize it as an unauthorized issuance or improper stop payment. If it a contractual dispute it is a civil issue, a and prosecutor will not handle the case nor will a police detective investigate it. If less than the jurisdictional limit in the proper forum (state) then small claims court.

This is an Ivory Tower discussion. We all view ourselves as serious photographers and do endless research and have long discussions about which lens is best or what brand camera has the fastest focusing system or best low light capability, etc. most people don’t give a rip. They want a snapshot of their friends in front of some notable art or architecture to post on social media for the folks back home. On my most recent vacation I estimate the tourists were using 90% cell phones, < 10% digital cameras and 5 or 6 film cameras, all 35mm, no medium or large format at all. Fully 1/3 we’re taking selfies as individuals, couples or small groups. I found it odd that they would nearly obliterate the scene with their faces. I took hundreds of pictures of the selfie crowd who were so absorbed in getting the right “look” that they had no idea there was another person around. The point of all that is that the vast majority of the pixels are being captured by people who carry their phone, computer and camera in a 3”x5”x1/2” box and are totally satisfied with the results....... as long as their hair looks nice. Make no mistake, the marketing guys know tho too and the marketing department overrules R&D every time. Giving the perception of improvement one brand over the next will continue to satisfy these enthusiastic snap shooters just as in serious photography. I’ve made a couple fortuitous shots with all my cameras—and cell phone, but for the selfie generation it would be pretty bothersome to pose in front of the Mona Lisa to get the shot with what we consider a real camera. I can only imagine the conversation back home about the picture of themselves explaining that the art behind them that you can see kinda sorta behind their face is arguably the most well known painting, or sculpture or building in history. We each have a different view of the use of a device to capture images.

Trump's states, with higher burglary rate more crime. Drug use would be up and unemployed would be up. People wanted money, how do you get it steal something to sell on the street. You don't need a PhD in criminology to under stand that.

Washington is not a red state. Using your logic crime would be way down since we have the lowest rate of unemployed in most people’s lifetime. Drugs and drug cartels are mentioned at least once in the article. Perhaps an unsecured border, high crime and high unemployment are the reason people voted for this president.

Go to the Apple store and ask for help. Did that in Florence last week. The kid, who spoke English as a second (or third or fourth) language helped immensely. He set the world-fi on the camera and coupled the phone. I still had some issues later but he got me so close to the bulls eye that I was able to solve my self induced problem.

I am trying to get some photo books printed. I have not had good luck. I want to get one photo per page but with NO COPPING. Seems they cannot help themselves and always crop the image to maximize the coverage on the page. Anyone know a printing company that can do this simple thing?

I wish someone would answer the question asked, I’m in the process of selecting photos which will have non-standard formats.

Yes, some stores have a better selection of mats than others.

One of these days - Dexter or Logan?

I’ve only used Logan so I have no frame of reference. I have 2 of them, one has a series of slots and pins the other is bigger and metal and very easily adjustable. The Granddaughter is going to get the first one soon as I much prefer the latter.

Yes, and I was wondering how many I would waste becoming adept at cutting them.

Really quite simple with a decent mat cutter. I use a Logan. Double mat is tricky however. Sharp blade in the cutter and precise measurements are the key. They are indistingable from any you buy, except they are cut to the size of the image you want rather than trimming/cropping the print to fit the mat. Take the print to the art supply because besides the usual black and white board they have a veritable rainbow of colors. Many art supply shops even hold classes to get you started.

I know this will not appeal to some but let me impart a little education. The North American Model Of Wildlife Conservation is "the world's most successful system of conservation". The hunters, boaters and fishermen who purchase licenses and tags along with the 10 to 12% excise tax on guns, ammunition, fishing tackle etc... are the one who support wildlife conservation. Ducks Unlimited have been responsible for the purchase and preservation of wetlands, Wild Turkey Federation for the reintroduction of turkeys to areas that once had them and the list goes on. Most State Fish and Wildlife departments would not be funded adequately if it weren't for Fishermen, boaters and hunters. Sportsman's dollars help pay for wildlife research which leads to wise wildlife management. When there is a limited hunt such as the grizzly bear hunt it will only happen if and when it has been determined there is a sufficient population. They may decide to do it to prevent over population, raise money through the tags to provide money for more research, to try and maintain an equilibrium between predator and prey or all of the above. Hikers, wildlife viewers, PETA, etc... do not contribute towards wildlife management. You may view hunting as a horrible thing but to others it's part of their life. Have respect for other people's choices. I'm sure not everyone enjoys or supports things you do.
I know this will not appeal to some but let me imp... (show quote)

Finally a scientific approach to this emotional issue. It is very interesting that the people who "feel" hunting is bad or should be banned are not generally from the American West or if they are they are cloistered in some city. I don't hunt any more but have killed three deer in collisions with my pickup truck since I quit hunting. From the evidence I've seen a clean shot is more humane than being splattered all over the highway. There are more deer in this country than there were in the early 1800's when Lewis and Clark explored the west. I don't see anybody railing against animal harvest when it's done by indigenous peoples by way of treaty, custom, inclination or native rights. The tribes generally have fish and game departments aimed at stewardship of their animals and way of life. Many in the west depend on harvested wildlife as a source of protein.. Get over it..

Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful responses. I didn’t make it clear in my post that my only luggage will be my carry on. I think the tota allowable weight is just over 16 lbs. again, thanks much.

Opinions please. I have a Canon 6D with battery grip, RSS mounting plate and 3 lenses that use up almost 1/2 of my max carryon weight. One alternative is to get a smaller camera. I’m inclined toward a full frame 20~ MP in the $1,000.00 range. Compact is good but would like superior IQ in that price range. I’m not wedded to a brand although I’ve used Canons for 50 years. So, brand, model, advantages/disadvantages, and opinions are appreciated. Open to used also. Thanks in advance.

But getting ripped off shouldn’t be part of the goal. You all know how hard it is to make a living in photography. Something to fall back on is probably important for someone with a lack of self motivation.
