Hi Jay,

You just kinda jumped into your description - kinda like it's a continuation of another dialogue. Guess I'll find out when I look down the digest further.

Anyway, very interesting. They do have a lot of real-time cameras down on the south end of the line don't they. We summer up near the north end of that rail line, near La Veta, so we get to see the trains at tha depot. I'm not aware of any cameras on our end. We haven't ridden the train yet but still want to. Seems there's a real stretch of openness between Alamosa and the Chama area.

You are positive that does not mean 'above sea level'? Must be some internal GPS limitation if not....

To me, 8000' above sea level means 8000' altitude.

In my drone research I saw that a poster on another forum stated that he had one and it would not work above 7000' altitude. He said you could start it 5' lower than that and it would then fly above the limit, but that if at or above the limit it simply would not come on. He said Yuneec Tech affirmed this.

Just last week I emailed Ryan Kephart at Yuneec and he confirmed that it would not work at altitudes above 8000' (not 7000') and that there was no correction available nor coming.

His response: "Unfortunately, we do not have a fix for an altitude over 8000’. I wish I could help you out.

The Yuneec Typhoon+ is one of the better entry level quadcopter with a decent 16 mp camera with all the goodies. To get any results worth keeping, you're going to spend in excess of a grand for sure!

I've been seriously wanting to get one of these birds for aerial footage. The Yuneec Typhoon+ was #1 on my list until I discovered it will NOT function above 8000' altitude (verified with Ryan at Yuneec Tech Service). Since my summer stay is at 8700' that blew this particular quad out of the air. Sad, as it had the most stable camera platform I'd seen on reviews (in its price range).

I fully agree. I'm thinking of starting a collection of fences/fence posts I run across.

Nice shot.

These are fantastic! You did good.

It really is hard to accept that these weren't staged but nature has a way to blow our minds. Continuously, if we just look around.

Anybody else notice that the front wheel was spinning on rollers, not the rear? FWD? All sorts of new ground here.

Tainkc, that's what I needed to hear. My question was simple. Is the lens worth keeping? You answered that. Thanks.

All the rest will come with time and learning about the camera. I'll admit it has me buffaloed at the moment - never had this much trouble getting good pictures. However, I haven't had an interchangeable lense camera since the mid sixtys either. I love this little raschal. If the lens is good to go I hang onto it and learn what it needs.

I have shot a lot of pictures but in reality probably 80-90% of those have been in burst mode as I tried to capture birds flying. I'm thinking it's pretty obvious I shouldn't have jumped into those waters so soon. Should have concentrated on learning the camera.

I like your idea of shooting car wheels. I'll give it a try, but only after I learn more about the camera.

Thanks. I get what you're saying to do to test the sharpness, except for the part about using what sounds like a two-dimensional object to test depth of field. How's that going to work?

Thanks for the comments. I realize I wasn't close enough but this is all I have. I really just wanted to know if other people thought the lens was sharp enough to keep. It is not nearly as long as what I wish I had but...

I've posted in several A6000 threads about my sharpness concerns regarding the two kit lenses that came with my camera. I've shot over 1300 pics and am just now beginning to see a little improvement. All along I've thought the kit lenses basically sucked, but maybe not so much. Perhaps (probably?) it is I...

Anyway, here are a few from today. I'm most interested in what you think about the lense performance (I'm still a long way off in my performance). Do I send them back or keep and learn how to use them?

Ya, if I remember Twiggy correctly, this gal's not nearly scrawny enough and is far better looking. Twiggy was toothpicks with a face.
