They have added an additional video camera. South of the Chama Depot, pointing north. It shows the Depot area.

Also, the south camera has been tilted down a little and one can see the ash pit, bottom left.
One can also see, the green roof of the sand house (bottom of video). This is where the bags of sand are stored until needed. The building was originally used to process and store the sand.

The train leaves out everyday at 10:00am mountain time. The train season starts sometime in May and runs until sometime in October. The fall tree colors are beautiful!!!

About an 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours before departure time, the engine moves about the yard getting read for the days run.

After departure, the other engine may be seen moving about the yard.
There usually some yard activity while the passenger train is gone for the day.

There is another train that departs from Antonito, CO and heads out. Both trains meet in Osier for lunch.

This is a wonderful train to visit, ride and chase up to Cumbres Pass.
It burns coal!
There is an open car to stand on for wide open views to enjoy.
Easy to hear the engine chugging along and hear the whistle when used.

Hi Jay,

You just kinda jumped into your description - kinda like it's a continuation of another dialogue. Guess I'll find out when I look down the digest further.

Anyway, very interesting. They do have a lot of real-time cameras down on the south end of the line don't they. We summer up near the north end of that rail line, near La Veta, so we get to see the trains at tha depot. I'm not aware of any cameras on our end. We haven't ridden the train yet but still want to. Seems there's a real stretch of openness between Alamosa and the Chama area.

Pat, are you familiar with the Skunk Train that runs between Ft. Bragg and Willits in No. Calif? The entertainer on that train is a friend of mine.

I was there in April. Because the trains don't run at that time of the year, the locals said that I could wander around the yard and take all the pictures that I wanted. I didn't know about the video cameras, so someone watching the video on the internet must have been amused by the crazy photographer wandering around taking pictures for several hours. I hope to get back in the fall and actually ride the train.
