D.I. Y. Do it yourself . Pick up a used slide duper(plenty out there cheep)and dupe with your dslr . Or Put together a copy/duping setup using a litebox which you might already have or again can pick up cheeply .

When I had Walgreens Photo digitize a number of c41 negatives I was NOT pleased with the low resolution scans the sent me on a CD. They were barely larger than thumbnails. So, hooked up a slide copier rig and huge improvement. I don't know what resolution Scan cafe produces but I now prefer to do it myself and scan as RAW for the obvious reasons. Kodachrome had a wide dynamic range and doing it myself I can work at getting it right. Doubt that i could afford to pay a service for the extra time some slides needed.

I have shot both ways and it appears to me anyway that I get much better results with scanning.

Been there, done that, same conclusion by far!

Check out Gary Friedman's books. I have the Alpha 850 & A7RIII books which are outstanding. He's written books on most of the Sony DSLR's. He is always willing to answer questions via email once you own 1 of his books. https://www.friedmanarchives.com/

I got this No.1A Folding Pocket Kodak from my dad who got it from his dad who bought it in 1910. Everything works (I'm nowhere near 110 and I already have things that don't work) and there are no light leaks in the bellows. Now if I could only find some film.

Found adapters for these great old timers....

My 1a, 2a and 3a Kodak cameras all used A122 roll film which was advertised as "post card" sized negatives. A few years ago I found a vendor on Ebay selling spool adapters that went on both ends of a roll of 120 film and fit it to the a122 spool size. Unfortunately I didn't purchase any but they could likely be easy to replicate if no longer available. Film size is stamped into the "autograph" gate on the back of the camera. Don't lose the tiny stylus, hard to replace.

If I still had my 4x5 I would toy with the idea of adapting a 4x5ish flat bed scanner to the back for long exposure experiments. Now I wish I still had the bits to work with. Preferred to housework LOL

The reality of "distracted living." For those of us who are spatial visualizers where did it originate and where is it ultimately going?
