As a DIY project, has anyone ever put digital sensor in a Crown Graphic camera? …maybe conjoining a digital camera to the Graphic?

Well, there's that franken-camera Magister Bob Malarz guy. But I don't recall that he used a Crown Graphic. (Maybe Bob will chime in?)

Done something similar with a Fuji GFX50R on a Cambo SCView camera. It has very limited capabilities as many lenses won't focus at infinity or a reasonable distance. The sensor ends up being too far from the lens. Also keep in mind cropping of the angle of view.

Not sure about if anyone has placed a digital sensor at the film plane. There are some digital medium format backs for view cameras that sit close to or at the film place

I have a Crown Graphic. but only use it with 6 x 7 or 6 x 9 120 film backs. Digital is too artificial for my likings.

No big deal to mount a medium format back on the speed or crown graphics, just like putting a rollfilm back on them. I never saw them but ten years or so ago I was reading about digital scanning backs for 4x5 view cameras but they never attracted further interest from me.

I have. Only it was an Arca-Swiss view camera.

When I had to teach digital photo online the first time I created this illustration for the opening page of the course. I have over the years managed to fool a few people.

Nice, Joe. And its one of those early versions, to boot. More recent ones connect with a USB3 cable rather than with those bulky old network cables. Have you given any thought to a wireless set up yet?

OK, good fake shot. Looks like a 8000 X 12000 meg sensor.

If I still had my 4x5 I would toy with the idea of adapting a 4x5ish flat bed scanner to the back for long exposure experiments. Now I wish I still had the bits to work with. Preferred to housework LOL

Hi Rick,
Here is a back for a 4x5 camera that will allow you to use a Nikon camera to shoot a series of pictures to then stitch together to make a final image (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-DF-D4-D7000-DSLR-SLR-Digital-Back-Adapter-For-4x5-Large-Format-Camera/183710930906?hash=item2ac60657da:g:QggAAOSwux5YM6bG). Good luck. Take care & ...

I've seen that and thought about getting it for my Linhoff. It's reasonably priced, that's for sure.

I have a question.
If I point a digital camera at the ground glass of a view camera I can certainly take a picture of the image formed by the view camera lens. However, would it work if there is no ground glass there?
I use the Iphone and took a picture thru the viewfinder of a Nikon F3 and it works OK but you would see the texture of the focusing screen. When I removed the focusing screen it doesn't work.
